Gleen Beck had Pastor John Hagee on his show last night. They discussed the end times. I think this was one of the best interviews I have seen in a long time. It was very interesting. Did anyone see it? Here is the transscript

Regarding Pre vs. Post Tribulation rapture. I must admit, I long to believe in the pre-trib rapture but as I read the Bible and see how the Lord’s chosen prophets and preachers were not spared from suffering (many of which had terrible deaths and martyrdom, including the Lord himself, Paul etc...) I figure with the condition of the “Church” today, much of it watered down gospel and full of sin, it might not escape a time of refining and trial. If there is a pre-tribulation rapture it will surely be God’s grace! However, the Church will not experience the Wrath of God which is reserved for those who reject His Son.
“Darby and the Plymouth Brethren were the first to reject all
the centuries of paganism and use literal historical exegesis.”
Are you going to tell me the earliest writers of Church history, those who wrote in the years shortly following the early church of the first century, men such as Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Hypollotus, and Tertullian, were pagans? and whose exegesis was inferior to Darby who lived some 1700 years later?
I rather think not. They lived 1700 years closer to the Apostles than Darby. And none of them believed in, nor taught, the pretrib rapture that Darby - and now Hagee and the “Left Behind” people - promote.
God has been consistent in REMOVING believers from horrendous punishment. Noah and the Flood are an example. Sodom and Gomorrah is another example etc.. There is no reason NOT to believe He will collect His believers when He returns as Scripture states. Those not raptured or gathered up will suffer extreme wrath.
1Thes.4:17
[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
I think this verse is very clear and as I mentioned simply demonstrates a pattern of NOT subjecting believers to EXTREME wrath.
Paganism was codified at Nicea
What I just posted #142. (I just read your post when I was done writing it.) Sounds like the same train of thought for us both.
No sir, I don't. I don't believe no five pistoleros could do in Josey Wales.
It is understandable, the desire to not have to experience the hard trials of the endtime tribulation. Unfortunately, neither the New Testament nor Church history confirms it. As to which does history support, the pre or post trib rapture, here is what Robert Gundry, Professor, Westmont College, Calif. says:
We can conclude from the survey of early Christian writings that the early church was explicitly posttribulational We discover NOT A PASSING REFERENCE TO, MUCH LESS A REFUTATION OF, ANY WHO BELIEVED OTHERWISE Every writer who touches in any detail upon the tribulation, resurrection, rapture, or Second Coming portrays a post-tribulational persuasion.

I also think it will be much sooner than 20 years.
Whupped em again, eh Josey?

Re Professor Gundry’s statement in my post #49: I might add that the reason there was no squabble over pre vs post trib rapture in the early years of Christianity is because there was no such thing. The pretrib rapture had not been invented yet...nor the mid trib one...nor the pre-wrath one.

Thank God we have insurance and assurance through Jesus Christ.
Thanks for the reference. I haven’t seen that site before.
