It will be held on October 9 in Dearborn, Michigan at the University of Michigan-Dearborn at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Broadcast is live on CNBC at 4 PM ET (1 PM PT) and re-broadcast on MSNBC at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo and MSNBC's Chris Matthews will host the debate.
Candidates participating:
I would imagine they have paid consultants who look into this stuff.
Projecting leadership image is important too.
best taylored is Romney.
I think Thompson is the most rebelious for going with the blue shirt.
NOTE: Thompson does have his american flag pin.
Tariffs were our primary funds for government. Generally speaking there’s always been debate on how high they should be.
I tend to favor low taxes on every level. Tariffs, income taxes, etc.
THOMPSON SPANKED MATHEWS with the calling him out on tax cuts “cost’ the government.
Find it hard to believe people did not cheer when thompson said the line about money in your own pocket. Must have been his delivery.
“Agreed, the media age of politics pretty much forces this, though the Clinton candidacy might be a notable exception.
Is he the exception or the rule?
I tend to think Bill won based on two things...Perot and his slick appearance.
“
Sorry, I should have clarified - the all new Clinton Candidacy, as in Hillary.
Bill was certainly good on TV for the some of the populace, at least some of which vote based on vibes and personality rather than anything substantial. He certainly would be the rule imho.
“NOTE: Thompson does have his american flag pin.”
haha...I remember there was a debate over that. The flag pin. Apparently it’s a big deal..dems aren’t wearing them and many repubs are. Silly stuff.
If you don’t want to wear it...who cares!?
To answer your rather snide question, Rep. Hunter is ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, formerly its chairman for four years.
@@@@
I stand corrected. I respect Hunter’s views, and forgot that the was/is on the Armed Services Committee.
Snide is in the mind of the reader. I want the ticket to be Romney/Hunter or Hunter for SecDef.
Anyone that has ever been in the TV business will tell you that blue comes accross best on TV. But look at the cut of his shirt collar. It looks like a casual shirt. It is not the color, it is the cut.
I don’t consider myself ultra-conservative, but I do have a few friends that started-off in college...voting Clinton and then regretting that years down the road. Clinton does sometimes APPEAR moderate, but once one really looks into it, he’s everything but that.
Hillary will win or lose based on two things: Iraq and her contender.
I just find it funny that people look at this shirt. Maybe I’m stereotyping men as not caring about such, but perhaps that’s just me.
What the heck was McCain talking about that tariffs lead to WWII????
Talk about blame America first!
our tariffs created Hitler? Forced him to invade France? We created Mussolini? We forced an invasion into England? Oh and a Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor?
What is that man smoking?
I am sick of America being blamed for the rest of the world’s lack of Free Enterprise and ability to enrich themselves......
I just want to say one thing though...DUNCAN HUNTER HAS "HUEVOS." I have waited and waited to hear a candidate say it like it is...with truth, clarity, and passion. It's fabulously refreshing.
And...I'd like to say something else...I'M VERY HAPPY WITH 98% OF OUR CANDIDATES. They answer each question with intelligent, knowledgeable responses. I'm VERY proud.
paul isn’t a truther.
In many ways, Clinton was liked by many precisely because he was imperfect and seemed sympathetic. Like any good con man he knew how to win people over.
Not only on a taylor, but he needs to spend money on a tailor, too.
Disregard it.
now RonPaul, silly party....
(monty python reference)
Ronpaul is a complete nutjob. This is one naked emperor.
Wow, I feel more hopeful after reading many of these posts that seem to indicate most people will vote for the Republican who ever it is.
I think his perspective was a bit twisted. But surely the short end to world war one, and the punitive penalties on german....the versaille treaty...definitely made fertile ground for Hitler’s movement. But I suppose he could have done so regardless.
I tend to think we shouldn’t have entered world war I...for many reasons. I could share them, if you wish. Our entrance in the second war was absolutely necessary.
The weekend before the election, people decide whom they think is more likable--the person they can stand to watch on tv for four years, the person they could have a conversation or a beer with. Bill beat GHW Bush and was more approachable than Bob Dole. W. was friendlier than Gore and Kerry (both born-to-the-manor uptight arrogant elitists). Notice how the press is now talking about how people are "warming up" to Hillary? Notice the charming "laugh" (a/k/a "cackle")? The Republicans need to nominate the person who is more likable than Hillary (which should have been pretty darn easy until the MSM started re-inventing her).
LOL!!
RP doing what he always does.....just attack Bush.....
we went into Iraq without his blessing and he is still pitching a fit......a petulant child in a never-ending fit......
you’ll love the part when he says he will not support the Republican Nominee.....
