Bill won on the likability factor. Old Bush seemed too old and out of touch, especially when he didn't know what a scanner in a grocery store was for. Perot divided the party (as planned) and William Safire told the true conservatives to teach the Republicans "a lesson"--hold-your-nose and vote for Bill. (That was quite a lesson we learned, and apparently have forgotten.)

The weekend before the election, people decide whom they think is more likable--the person they can stand to watch on tv for four years, the person they could have a conversation or a beer with. Bill beat GHW Bush and was more approachable than Bob Dole. W. was friendlier than Gore and Kerry (both born-to-the-manor uptight arrogant elitists). Notice how the press is now talking about how people are "warming up" to Hillary? Notice the charming "laugh" (a/k/a "cackle")? The Republicans need to nominate the person who is more likable than Hillary (which should have been pretty darn easy until the MSM started re-inventing her).

I agree. Depending on the conditions in Iraq and the candidate, we’ll see a Republican or Hillary.

So we must have faith in the republican primary voters and Bush.

The former I trust more, but I hope Bush uses his time well...or we’ll have a much bigger problem with Hillary.

Which you know was media spin. He was being shown a new model, not yet in general use, that could scan broken/scarred bar codes.
