60 Minutes Greenspan Interview Trashes Republican Presidents; Clinton was the Smartest -

Posted on 09/16/2007 6:05:31 PM PDT by WyCoKsRepublican

60 Minutes aired an interview with former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan this evening. He inferred Nixon was vulgar and profane, Ford was a nice guy, Reagan wasn't that bright and was just an opportunist intested in his public image, and naturally Bill Clinton was the smartest of all that he'd served under. He went on to say how bright Hillary was and that Bush lied to him about the truth of our prosperity. Now folks, I'm considering the source and I knew where this propaganda piece was heading, but it was pathetic. Barf-a-rama.

LOL, Andrea must have put him up to it, she wants payback for getting busted in the Libby setup.

These people are so predicable.

It just amazes me how the Clintons, the world’s most selfish couple, can land on their feet time after time. One would think the Greenspans would trash these people, they’ve alienated so many with their attitudes, behaviors and tactics.

Way to stick a knife in the back of all those who treated you well in your career. How pathetic. This little man was treated so well by President Bush (both) and then he kisses Bush on the cheek and sells him out for 30 pieces of silver in his book. To add insult to injury he states how great Clinton was. What a complete Judas!

There was a headline in the WSJ Saturday: "Greenspan Book Criticizes Bush And Republicans"

The headline is meant to imply that he opposes the Bush tax cuts.

When you actually read the article, he rebuffs Bush and the GOP for excessive spending and failing to rein in the growth of government, something almost all of us here have expressed disgust with.

The Left will try to use this book to support their brain dead economic policies, but Greenspan is no friend of Socialism.

And those were just his better qualities that you listed. Greenspan was the most overrated Fed Chairman ever.

I know we are supposed to keep our enemies close and know them. But, I couldn't watch that interview. Instead, I shoveled manure into my garden.

Greenspan is a typical frigging bureaucrat turned out to pasture and looking to cash in with a book. They all need to be cleaned out every 10 years and sent packing. Get their hind-ends out here in the woods where real people live. A pox on them all!!

“Bush lied to him about the truth of our prosperity.”

What the hell does that mean? I’m getting the impression that Greenspan really did not write this, or even read it.

I wonder if Hillary got to his FBI file.

Sigh ...

No, the simple explanation is he is a privileged liberal Democrat and he is married to a privileged liberal Democrat. Oh yes, he used to be a lifelong Republican until he married that younger woman ...

Of course Clinton was the best economic president. He signed in the Republican tax cuts and then got to hand-tied by scandal that his administration couldn’t bugger with the free market economy

I must have missed those Republican tax cuts. I did see some spending cuts but I only remember the largest tax increase in the history of the world during Clintons tenure. That did help the bond market and make Greenspans job a little easier. Clintons job was made easier by one: The Republican spending cuts, two: The passing of the line item veto. (It was later struck down but the Toon got to use it for a short time.)And finally: The unabashed cheerleading of the economy by the whole of the mainstream press. Remember "The New Economy"? The "Dot Com Boom"? How the Internet was gonna drive out the brick and mortar dinosaurs?

I’ve always thought that Greenspan was a little slow cutting interest rates during George H. W. Bush’s term because he wanted to sabotage him and help clinton.

Clinton was able to attack Bush for causing a recession, and it’s one reason why he won the election. “It’s the Economy, Stupid!”

The Fed chairman generally makes sure that the economy is in good shape at the end of a president’s first term in office. Greenspan deliberately, IMHO, dragged his feet. So clinton got into office, blamed Bush for the recession, took credit for the following boom that was already under way and largely due to the Reagan tax cuts, and with the help of the MSM earned a reputation as an economic genius.

Greenspan has always favored the Democrats in his dealings.

After my beloved 0-2 KC Chiefs continued their losing ways on the local CBS affiliate I caught the Greenspan interview. It was typcial “gloom and doom” for America and mankind as we know it. It’s election time. The RATS will be coming out of the sewers in many forms.

Greenspan was always about six months behind the curve with his interest rate movements. He singlhandedly gave us the rescession that put Clintoon in office.

Did Alan mention corruption, or was that not important to him?

What an ass!

Reagan was nothing to these people. The cold war never happened. Billions weren’t freed. Reagan was an opportunist. Good God what a bunch of self-centered a.h.s make up the left.

Bush lied to him about the truth of our prosperity

What can that possibly mean? Isn't the "truth of our prosperity" something Greenspan should have been telling to Bush? Which one was the Fed chairman here?
