With illegal immigration the topic of the night, Congressman Tancredo proves himself once again as the champion of reform.
"Its got nothing to do with disliking people who are coming into this country. It's got everything to do with the rule of law."

They actually agree on immigration, they have even sponsored bills together on it (not to ironically, without Ron Paul).
They disagree sharply on free trade, and other international issues.
The U.S. Congress has plenary power over immigration to this country and can exclude immigrants for any reason whatsoever, even in ways that are manifestly unfair.
In the early ‘60s the Congress changed the immigration laws to favor Mexico, Central America, and South America.
After forty-five years of descriminating against Europe, Asia, and Australia, it’s time we changed to needs-based immigration. Like Canada.
Duncan Hunter actually had a fence built which stopped drug trafficking and crime in San Diego, and Hunter authored the bill for a fence from California thru Texas, which was signed into law.
I give Tancredo credit for being vocal on illegal immigration, but Duncan Hunter has been more effective - he gets things done!
“A question I would like answered by these men is... what are you going to do with the illegals that are already here in this country. It never gets asked.”
Not directly, but if you listen closely to some of the answers during the debate, you’ll hear their position. I believe it was Huckabee that said in reference to sending them home, don’t look for him to be the one to do it. Guiliani danced and pretty much said everything except directly saying he would give them a path to citizenship, and Fred Thompson has said he opposes a blanket amnesty for all illegals, but we have to figure out who is here and then give them aspirations of citizenship. In contrast, Duncan Hunter has been asked that question directly and has said, “the have to go home”.
More and more (ever since the NJ killings) we are hearing “criminal” illegal aliens. I look for this differentiation, “criminal” vs. “non-criminal” illegal aliens to become the basis for an amnesty compromise.
“Im noticing a split between Hunter and Tancredo on FR and I am honestly asking without sarcasm, what is the difference between them that makes one better than the other in regards to Illegal Immigration?”
Tancredo has hands down not only the toughest stance on illegal immigration of all the candidates, but of any politician in general. He has spoken on the issue strongly for years, and sponsored that bill this summer that barred federal emergency funding to sanctuary cities. Of all the proponents of tougher immigration laws, Tancredo has been by far the most effective.
He has even been banned from the White House for his devotion to the cause of ending illegal immigration... I am very proud to have him representing Colorado’s (and every concerned American’s) interests.
Stopping illegal immigration has been Tancredo’s main issue. Hunter covers all the issues. Both are good candidates but I would vote for Hunter over Tancredo if that was the choice.
A split? I don’t think I’ve noticed? I don’t know any Hunter supporters that don’t like Tancredo. Watch the debates and tell me who won :)

...What do we do about all the people that are already here?
Duncan Hunter: I think we ask them to go home. This country has lost 619 thousand Americans on the battlefields around the world in the last 100 years making the world safe. The reason we are not sending people back to Nazi Germany because we took care of Nazi Germany and we liberated the Germans and the reason we are not sending people back to a Communist Poland is because we brought down the Berlin Wall. The reason we are not sending people back to a Marxist Dictatorship in El Salvador is because we liberated El Salvador. We have made the world much freer. And we have pumped billions of dollars into lots of countries to improve their economies. So I think the United States, more than any nation in the world, has a right to tell folks, you folks stay in your own country, make it work and when you want to come into America knock on the front door.

Now there’s a distinction without a difference, a perfect example of liberal speak.
crim-i-nal (noun) somebody acting illegally - Encarta Dictionary.
It would more accurate to say that the House Judiciary Committee is setting the agenda.
But he is basically a one issue candidate.
I have heard he was near dropping out a couple of months ago.
I am grateful that he has had the courage to help keep this important issue alive--but DH has ALL of the tools to lead America IMO...
“Huckabee, in his Arkansas speech used Gingrichs FEDEX tracing comment, and again in the debate on Wednesday. In Arkansas he also used, verbatim, Duncan Hunters comment on leveling the playing field with China trade. I didnt like that at all. Most all of the candidates have taken pages from Hunters book, but never like Huckabee.”
I noticed that too! In Iowa, he said something about people voting for the package on a cereal box, and I thought, “Moral fiber for everyone!”.
At least Hunter is sincere and consistent. I don’t know too much about Tancredo, but I wonder if he might be a good VP(no disrespect for the Tanc intended here)for Hunter. They might make a good team if Hunter keeps him a little settled down. We need fiery leaders who will fight hard for US!
I heard Tancredo doing the same with talking about “Saving Private Ryan”. Seems like none of the other candidates has the RIGHT STUFF when it comes to making speeches from the heart.
“Seems like none of the other candidates has the RIGHT STUFF when it comes to making speeches from the heart.”
That’s too bad. Hunter does have it all, hands down, IMHO.
My family will not settle for less!
Tancredo would make a great senator or POTUS. You know where he stands.
>That said, the two of them, do disagree strongly, on free trade, and have total opposite views on the topic, and do disagree on a few other areas....<
VOTE FOR DUNCAN HUNTER IN THE PRIMARIES FOR AMERICA’S SAKE!
Tom Tancredo to head up the FBI!
Tancredo has been invaluable in the immigration 'debate'. But the difference in Tom and Hunter is that Hunter has accomplished something on it and was penning legislation, getting support and getting fences built, etc. before anyone ever heard of Tancredo. Hunter has earned the respect of his peers and many suppport him. Tancredo hasn't any congressional endorsers. And as Charlie Rangel even admits, " No, the truth of the matter is, Duncans a real expert in military affairs.....
Tancrado is such a lightweight presidential candidate he has to carry rocks in his pockets to keep from being blown away.o
