The Birth of al Qaedastan

In the year 2016, the world may find itself gloomily marking September 6 as the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Islamic Emirate of Waziristan. The Emirate received de facto recognition when the Taliban used the name on the ceasefire agreement they signed with Pakistan on that day in 2006. If things go terribly wrong in the coming decade, they could come to rule a mountainous fragment of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Emirate would be a nightmare state: Osama bin Laden as sultan, Ayman al Zawahiri as vizier, and Mullah Omar the spiritual leader. An economy built on smuggling and heroin. Primary export: terrorism. Welcome to ‘Al Qaedastan’.

Analysts say the rise of a terrorist state straddling the rugged area between Pakistan and Afghanistan is now viable. The reason is a number of troubling trends. One, the revival of a Taliban firmly in the control of Al Qaeda. Two, the seeming inability of either Kabul or Islamabad to defeat the new threat militarily. Three, and the most striking, the Taliban’s systematic supplanting of the traditional tribal leadership in the area. Full story...

Special gift could mean nothing or it could be them telling us what they are going to do — never know. Last time they promised a “big surprise” an Adam Gadahn video followed, so I don’t think we should automatically assume odd key words mean anything.

We have not seen a bin Laden video in any form in some time (other than the recent ones with very small clips). What does he want to say to the American people that he has not already said? Or, is he interested in addressing us after something happens?

I can reveal that the website of interest is that of Inshallahshaheed's The Ignored Puzzle of Knowledge'. The particular post in question is simply a preview of an audio set to be released on Sept. 11.

In connection to your post, there is an update at The Jawa Report
in which I quote the following:

"I'm listening to the audio now. Starts out with sirens,
gunshots, and panicked people screaming. There is a
voice over in Arabic. Very menacing. Not at all like the
usual. There's shouting and screaming, and gunshots.
Very different than most of these types of audios which
are usually calm sermons with nasheeds (music) in the
background.

No bin Laden audio, but towards the end of the audio
is a nasheed praising Osama bin Laden. Then gunshots.
Then it ends. Scary.

Sounds threatening to me. And considering that I monitor
a lot of this stuff, if I even think its scary, then
I think that's saying something. It may not be a direct
specific threat about an impending attack, but it is a
general threat. And it reminds us of exactly who it is
we're fighting."
