Two Men Indicted in Florida on Explosives Charges
WASHINGTON Two University of South Florida (USF) students have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Tampa, Florida, for transporting explosives materials without permits, the Department of Justice announced today.
The two-count indictment unsealed today charges Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed and Youssef Samir Megahed, both Egyptian nationals, with transporting explosives in interstate commerce without permits. The indictment alleges that the two men, not being licensees under federal law, did knowingly transport and cause to be transported in interstate commerce explosive materials on or about Aug. 4, 2007 in the Middle District of Florida and elsewhere.
Mohamed was also charged with distributing information about building and using an explosive device. The indictment alleges that Mohamed taught and demonstrated the making and use of an explosive and destructive device, with the intent that such information be used for, and in the furtherance of, an activity that constitutes a federal crime of violence.
Mohamed, a civil engineering graduate student and teaching assistant at USF, and Megahed, an engineering student, were stopped for speeding and subsequently arrested on Aug. 4, 2007 in Goose Creek, S.C. by a South Carolina Berkeley County Sheriffs deputy. Both Mohamed and Megahed were charged with possession of an explosive device, in violation of South Carolina law. Bond was set for Mohamed in the amount of $500,000 and for Megahead in the amount of $300,000. Both men are currently being held in Berkeley County jail.
The charges in the indictment are merely allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The charge of distributing information about explosive devices carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, and the charge of transporting explosive materials carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
Reginald I. Lloyd, U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department and the Ninth Circuit Solicitors Office in South Carolina. I am very grateful for the hard work and professionalism of our local law enforcement partners in this important investigation. The arresting deputys vigilance and the immediate response of our local investigators and prosecutors are highly commendable.
This case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Middle District of Florida, with the assistance of the National Security Division at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Joint Terrorism Task Forces in both Tampa and South Carolina, with the assistance of the United States Attorneys Office for the District of South Carolina.

Charleston, S.C. (AP) — With a federal indictment in place, state charges will be dismissed against two Egyptian-born students who were stopped last month with what authorities said were pipe bombs, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
“I plan to dismiss the charges in favor of federal prosecution,” said Scarlett Wilson, state prosecutor for Charleston and Berkeley counties.
Ahmed Abda Sherf Mohamed, 24, and Yousef Samir Megahed, 21, both students at the University of South Florida in Tampa, were arrested on state charges of possession of an explosive device following an Aug. 5 traffic stop in Goose Creek.

Cairo, Egypt - The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated Sunday that Egyptian officials are to meet with the two Egyptian students charged with transporting explosives in the United States. The students were arrested on August 4 in South Carolina. A federal grand jury in Tampa, Florida has indicted them on charges of illegally transporting explosives over state lines.
"Officials from the Egyptian embassy in Washington will meet the two students at their place of detention on Wednesday," the ministry said Sunday. "The Foreign Ministry will spare no efforts in defending the interests of Egyptians abroad as long as they respect the laws of the countries they are in."

In Bosnia, Former Fighters Face Expulsion
Many Foreign-Born Muslims Who Came During 1992-95 War Now Losing Citizenship
Tuesday, September 4, 2007
ZENICA, Bosnia -- They met in 1985 as Syrian immigrants in Croatia, two students in their 20s grappling with a language and a culture they didn't understand. Seven years later, when word spread of a nearby war being waged by fellow Muslims, Ayman Awad and Imad Al Husayn boarded a bus for Bosnia and joined the fight, they recounted. After peace came in 1995, they married local women, became Bosnian citizens and started families. They settled in ravaged rural villages and fostered a strict religious code that contrasted sharply with the more relaxed Islam endemic to this country's native Muslims.
Now, Awad, 42, and Husayn (who goes by the nickname Abu Hamza), 43, may again be on the move, this time not by choice. Earlier this year, the Bosnian government revoked the two men's citizenship as part of a broad review of foreign-born residents that was urged by the United States. It has led to the denationalization of at least 500 people, about 70 percent of whom arrived here from throughout the Muslim world during the three-year ethnic civil war.
Awad and Husayn have been given 60 days to appeal the decisions against them. If unsuccessful, they and a few dozen others who remain in the country and are embroiled in similar proceedings could be deported. Bosnian and international officials say the presence of the former fighters -- who, like predecessors in the war against the Soviet army in Afghanistan, are known as mujaheddin, Arabic for "strugglers" -- is illegal. The officials say some of them maintain links to terrorist groups, creating a security threat for Bosnia.

“Swedish Muslim group to sue newspaper over Muhammad drawing”
Published: 09.04.07, 18:57 / Israel News
Over 80,000 illegal weapons are believed to be in the hands of West Bank terrorists, according to the IDF's latest assessments of the ongoing power struggle between Hamas and Fatah.
The weapons are mostly held in private homes or hidden in caches throughout Judea and Samaria. According to the latest assessment, and contrary to earlier predictions, defense officials told The Jerusalem Post this week that Hamas was just as strong as Fatah in the West Bank and could pose a genuine threat to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's security forces.
On Monday, the London-based Al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper reported that Fatah security forces had recently thwarted an attempted coup in the PA by Hamas. Hamas had tried establishing a military force in the West Bank similar to its Executive Force in the Gaza Strip, which then planned to attack PA institutions and take over the government, according to the report. "They have weapons and explosives and, more importantly, they are highly motivated," a senior defense official said. According to the official, Hamas is currently in a "waiting period" and is trying to unite some of its splinter groups spread throughout the various West Bank cities, with terrorist hubs in the northern Samaria cities of Nablus and Jenin.

Spain: Man linked to Madrid bombings released from jail
4 Sept 2007
Madrid - A Spanish court on Tuesday released a man held in preventative custody for three years in connection with his alleged role in assisting those responsible for the 11 March 2004 bombings at several Madrid railway stations that killed 191 people.
The court also ruled that the man, Lebanese-born Mahmoud Slimane Aoun, 47, must report to a courthouse every 15 days, until judicial authorities decide to either acquit or sentence him. Aoun was accused of providing forged documents to the group of terrorists responsible for the attacks, and thus charged for having collaborated with a terrorist organisation. He was also accused of being linked to the bombings through several intercepted telephone conversations with one of the organisers of the attacks, Jamal Ahmidan.

Notice that the picture is pointed toward New York and London and towards the bottom towards Venezula makes me wonder if it has something to do with Chavez. The first part of the audio sounds like a TV channel going out like it lost it’s signal and then it sounds like air raid sirens and then two explosions.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “GHAZNI, Afghanistan (AFP) - Security forces killed a Taliban commander involved in the July kidnapping of 23 South Koreans, officials said Tuesday, as around 40 other rebels were reported killed in fresh fighting.
The commander, Mullah Mateen, and 15 other insurgents died in an Afghan and US-led coalition operation that started late Monday in the central province of Ghazni and lasted several hours, they said.
Mateen was a “key person” in the abduction of the group of Christian aid workers, two of whom were killed before the remainder were freed late last week, Ghazni police chief Alishah Ahmadzai said.
“We are sure that Mullah Mateen is dead and I’m sure and everyone knows that he was behind the kidnapping of the South Koreans,” he told AFP.”

There may be video associated with the audio that will be released soon.
My own guess is that the six initial tones are a countdown and the detonation on the sixth tone marks the sixth anniversary. It might be thunderclap with rolling echoes afterwards, but it sounds more like a blast followed by a shock wave.
Roughly speaking, the upper left corner of the inset image (of the three buildings) touches North America (Canada and U.S.) and the upper right corner of the inset image touches the UK. The video interview that Mullah Dadullah gave a couple days before he was killed this spring named those as three of the four targets (US, UK, Canada) with the other being Germany.

UBL was on video in 1998 a few months before the Kenya/Tanzania embassy bombings sitting in front of a map with East Africa positioned over his shoulder.
http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/entity.jsp?entity=john_miller
As seen on this YouTube clip Cindy posted in #171, UBL explains why they “call the shot” prior to an attack even at the risk of exposing their plans prematurely. As UBL explicitly admits, terrorism is the purest form of psychological warfare. For an attack to have its full effect, it must be part of a sustained campaign and not just an isolated incident “out of the blue”. Perception can be as important as the underlying reality. And since they cannot attack the reality of our power, they attack the perception of our power (how others perceive us and how we perceive ourselves).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zcg8elAFvgg
So it is in their interest to state beforehand that they will attack us (as they have with increasing frequency) and even give vague indications as to time, place, or method to demonstrate inevitability, and hence, create a self-fulfilling prophesy. Without some type of prior warning there is no prophesy to self-fulfill.
Incidentally, the first 2-3 seconds of that YouTube clip shows the 1999 Kandahar meeting between UBL and the future 9/11 hijackers with the wall map behind them of America, and the Arabic script on the Canadian border with a bomb hovering over the water spelling out the words “The Destruction of America”.

Germans Arrest 3, Thwart “Imminent Threat”
AP via CBS News ^ | Sept. 5, 2007
Posted on 09/05/2007 12:05:48 AM PDT by james500
Three men have been arrested for planning attacks on Frankfurt’s international airport and the U.S. military base in Ramstein, the German Defense Minister said Wednesday.
“There was an imminent threat,” Franz Josef Jung told Germany’s ARD broadcaster. He declined to elaborate.
Two of the suspects had German citizenship while the third was Pakistani, Germany’s Sudwestrundfunk public broadcaster said.
German federal prosecutors said they had arrested three suspected members of “an Islamic motivated terrorist organization.” It was not immediately clear whether the three were suspected of having links to al Qaeda.
Sudwestrundfunk said the men were arrested Tuesday evening and were close to carrying out the attacks. German and U.S. officials have warned of the possibility of a terrorist attack, and security measures have been raised, they said.

“City Says No Evidence Of Terrorism In Pipe Bomb Blast”
September 04, 2007
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “The mayor says there’s no evidence a small explosion early Tuesday morning on West 29th Street was an act of terrorism, but he says the city is taking the incident very seriously.
Police say it was a pipe bomb that caused the explosion just after 1 a.m. in front of a four-story walk-up at 227 West 29th Street and Eighth Avenue.
No one was hurt in the blast, but it did blow out several windows, including the windshield of a red GMC van.
The building houses a theater owned by “Sopranos” actor Michael Imperioli. Police said they don’t know if the explosion is connected to Imperioli’s Studio Dante.
Three apartments located above the theater were briefly evacuated while a bomb squad determined there was no further threat. “
