Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !
RonPaul MeetUp Group ^ | 26 August 2007 | David Osborne

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:44:41 AM PDT by davidosborne

Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1/boards/view/viewthread?thread=3421862

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

.... quote from an active Ron Paul supporter

Somebody posted a thread concerning moveon, and letting their members know about Ron Paul. As a member of moveon.org, I received today an invitation to create an anti-war rally on August 28th. They will be doing rallies all across the nation on that day. We should invade this event. During the rally, bring anti-war stickers, signs, and flags -- and also Ron Paul signs. Introduce moveon members to Ron Paul, the REAL anti-war candidate! Anti-war people will ask about Ron Paul and be introduced to him on that day. Don't be rude, just gently introduce people to the peace candidate. Moveon.org is well cordinated, so if enough of our people show up at their rallies, we might be able to convert a huge number of people.

I have already created a moveon.org anti-war rally, on the 28th at 7pm, right outisde of the West Covina Mall. Please, everybody who can in this group, COME. It's on the corner of Vincent and Plaza Drive in West Covina.

“Ron Paul’s foreign policy is rooted in reasons opposite those of libs, a non interventionist, small government, robert taft like approach.’

It would help if he took a good look at the way of the world today. This isolationist bent simply won’t work any more. If it really ever did.

We need to start considering the options at this point.

I am not committed, but John McCain and Ron Paul are the first candidates I have ruled out.

To defeat leading candidates with a real conservative may require some sort of tactical voting depending on what state we are in.

We have to defeat the Romney’s and Giuliani’s with the candidate who has the best chance of beating them depending on which state we live in.

There has to be a splitting of the vote with no clear winner early on.

We must act according to conscience and not be swayed by pundits and media hype.

The conservative vote is split ten different ways right now and it must unite to defeat the more liberal candidates.

Duncan Hunter did pretty poor in that Iowa poll, but if I lived in the West I would have to consider voting for him.

In California, I would vote for him right now as part of this strategy.

Tancredo is in this thing (He did well in the Iowa poll) and will split support especially in places like Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

If I lived in Colorado I would think Tancredo would have strong support and would probably have to strongly consider him.

Fred Thompson was a Washington lobbyist for around 20 years and is all image and no substance. Ronald Reagan was an actor who actually read conservative books and magazines.

Heck, I could vote for Thompson or Gingrich, but Newt is the more conservative of the two with real ideas in his head.

What makes Romney’s Huckabee’s and Giuliani’s attractive is that they aren’t Washington politicians.

The “real conservatives” happen to have Washington political titles and that’s what hurts them.

"I don't know what the definition of member and non-member..."

A member is one who has registered at Free Republic. A Non-Member has not. Both can vote in polls at FR.

I write software. I created something years ago I called the “Poll-I-Nator” that went out and voted in polls. The differential you see between member non member is something like what I made. Takes a load more effort to register, then vote, etc than run something that registers thousands and thousands of fake votes. The diff between member and non-member is something like what I made. Most of the member votes are fake as well. After FR had an impact in politics, many many moles signed up.

There were lamestream media polls turned by the tool I made using just one computer and one internet connection. It is so easy to do.

Ron Paul is a joke, and he is designed to tank the GOP.

Ron Paul’s foreign policy is rooted in reasons opposite those of libs

Sorry my FRiend, a position that results in losing the war in Iraq for a "good reason" is just as BAD as a position that results in losing the war for a "bad reason" ---- IMHO

Tell the truth, do you have any HARD evidence that Paul's campaign (his official campaign, not the work done independently by grassroots volunteers on his behalf) is in coordination with the MoveOn folks? If there is, I'd be the first to denounce Paul and won't support his candidacy from here on out. The work done on Paul's campaign is DONE INDEPENDENTLY from Paul's official campaign! Ron Paul's campaign IS NOT COORDINATING THE MEET-UP GROUPS or other grass-roots stuff!

For all I know, this (what sounds like a small) group of Paul supporters may be playing both sides. They could be closet MoveOn types trying to damage Paul. They could also be the idiots this tactic makes them look like.

I think it would be wise for Paul to clarify the issue.

Some third party candidates can't keep on top of everything going on out there. Perhaps this will fly under Paul's radar. If he hears about it, I think it would be wise to make a statement that he does not want to affilate with MoveOn.Org.

This is the second bogus Ron Paul story currently in Breaking News. Obviously, the old one was going to drop off the bottom of Breaking News so the Paul-haters had to find a new bogus story.

If you inspect the original link (a Meetup page), you'll find one wingnut in Pasadena who is trying to get RP supporters to attend a MoveOn anti-war rally. He says he has 12 RSVP's (of which he'll be lucky if six show up).

So, are all the various Meetup pages now Breaking News at FreeRepublic? If I go start a Rudy Giuliani MeetUp for "NAMBLA For Rudy" or a Meetup for "Abortionists for Brownback" or a MeetUp for "KKK For Obama", would those be Breaking News at FreeRepublic?

Is it really in the interest of FR to have such non-stories as our top Breaking News stories? In what sense can anyone consider this story (or the previous one) to be Breaking News? How exactly do we know that the Paul-haters here at FR did not actually post and organize this anti-war MoveOn Meetup so they could blame it on Ron Paul?

Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !

The radical left anti-libertarian Neo-Stalinists have big plans for Ron Paul, truthers, and the more feeble minded of libertarian movement, such as it is.

You don’t get it do you.

Yeah, you're right, I should just support one of the pre-approved establishment flunkies who won't address the real issues.

Even if your intentions are pure, you are supporting someone designed to split off a small margin of conservative voters that are hard core libre”tard”ian in their views. The ones who put the core of libretarianism above their willingness to see the bigger picture.

Would you rather have Paul run as a Republican or as a Libertarian? Seriously. You folks criticize Paul with the old libertarian BS but do you realize how fricking screwed the GOP would be if he ran as an independent? Hillary might as well start buying new drapes and furniture for the WH.

His support is x% people like you and y% moveon people or people of their ilk. You are being hoodwinked into thinking RP has a farts chance in a hurricane in order to negate your vote.

His support comes mainly from decent folks who are tired of politicians BSing them all the time. There's no hoodwinking or con game here. Give me a break.

Get a friggin clue. You x’rs and being pulled around by a nose ring by a bunch of y’rs “uber geek libs” who have real and not figurative nose rings.

There you go again, insinuating that Paul supporters are a bunch of basement, skater-boy dwellers spending their lives online. You guys are all mad because there are people out there who are interested in the real truth, for a change.

I thought that must be it, but the difference in the two polls is so wide that I kind of thought that what was going on with them, was too obvious for it to be explained so easily. Thanks

With all due respect, I never suggested that THIS effort was endorsed by the campaign.

Of course. You're so innocent. One wingnut on a single MeetUp (which might actually be you for all we know) makes three posts. You race here breathlessly and post it into Breaking News, surely one of the top news stories of the last week.

I think your motives are easy to discern. You just don't like it when readers perceive your malicious intent accurately.
