A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....08-10,11,12-07....T.G.I.F. at the Finest

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown.
I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Diet coke has no calories but since I don’t like them much I don’t drink them like I did cokes. I drink water a lot but try to eat a lot of green vegetables and I have been buying oranges, apples, etc. They have natural sugar in them but I have to eat something. I fixed a nice steak Thursday night and had asparagus...no bread and it was filling and delicious. But I love pasta of any kind and potatoes and I am staying away from them until I go back and get my blood checked Wednesday. And I still am weak. Sugar gives energy, doesn’t it? Did the dr. tell you to cut back or are you trying to lose weight?

jaycee, I love potatoes & pasta also & LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cheese.. I dont have really healthy eating overall.. I think we all have our weak areas & I think if we in general have good eating habits we can on occasion go for our splurges.

I have never read a lot on the nautural ways with sugar problems, diabetes etc. It is no doubt an entirely different ball game.

I need to get ready to leave for the day. Hang in there!

Dolly, I plan on reading this whole thing after church. I don’t feel like going this morning but I have been out several Sundays and will try to get there today. If I feel too bad on my way out, I may not go but I will try first! I have felt worse since I cut out sugar and carbs....just dragging!

Keep The Fire Burning

[Be] fervent in spirit. —Romans 12:11

Modern furnaces have taken the work out of keeping warm in cold climates. We simply set the timer on the thermostat, and the house is warm when we get up in the morning. But in former days, fire was carefully tended and fuel supplies were closely monitored. Running out could be deadly.

The same is true spiritually. If we think our “spiritual fire” can be ignited as easily as a modern furnace, we risk losing our fervor for the Lord.

In ancient Israel, the priests were instructed not to let the fire on the altar go out (Lev. 6:9,12-13). This required a lot of work, not the least of which was collecting firewood in a land not known for its dense forests.

Some scholars see the fire on the altar as a symbol for the flame of our devotion for the Lord. Spiritual passion is not something to be treated lightly or taken for granted. It will grow cold if we fail to keep it supplied with fuel.

The apostle Paul addressed the subject of spiritual fervor in his letter to the Romans (12:1-2,11). To keep the fire of our devotion burning strong, we must continue the hard work of stocking our fuel supply with hope, patience, steadfast prayer, generosity, hospitality, and humility (vv.11-16).

O God, my heart is the altar
And my love for you is the flame;
I’ll keep the fire burning for You, Lord,
And I will rejoice in Your name. —Hess

Our love for Jesus is the key to spiritual passion

Thank you Dolly!

My daughter suggested I go to Central Market (she gave me a gift cert at Christmas for there) and ask them for their sugar free GLUTEN free foods recipes etc.

Not sure why Gluten free. Cardiologist had suggested no white bread, sugar, or white rice.

I would suggest one addendum, Dolly.

Cancer cells are in a growth spurt. They need a plentiful blood supply. Anything that stresses them is an effective anticancer treatment.

The thing you did not mention is heat. Occasionally, doctors have noted a serendipitous spontaneous healing of tumors when the patient is responding to another infection.

The body’s fever reaction stresses the tumor.

This means that if you like sauna treatments, they could be part of your therapy.

It isn’t a cure-all, but when you’re trying to control such an insidious foe, every weapon needs to be utilized.

Behold, I Stand at the Door

Here in this world there’s a chance.
Opportunity comes each day,
To turn around our lives and live
In that exemplary way.

I’ve known about the doorway,
My parents knocked me too.
There isn’t any question that,
I know what I should do.

But here is what concerns me,
Let’s call it Heaven’s Key,
“The only way to the Kingdom,”
(His words!) “… is by me.”

So the crux of my dilemma,
Believe me, it’s a gem.
If I have blocked His way down here,
How can I get by Him?
