A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Such Gorgeous poems and pictures! Lady Jag :)
Have a lovely Sunday
I hope it cooled down for you. Just a little bit here today. Wish rain would precede the cooler temps. Dosen’t look like that will happen. :)
Hugs!

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I purred to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
“It’s me, I haven’t left you, I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here.”
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I’m not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said “it’s me.”
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It’s possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say “goodnight, God bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I’ll rush across to greet you and we’ll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

Oh my LJ. that is gorgeous. Tears as I read AND RELATE. Did you write it? I just sent it out to my pet friends in email
I am missing Cali but her death has more or less stirred up the void of losing Oliver at such a young age.
I want to work this up in a table with some graphics.. put in on my profile page.. I do appreciate it.
I thought I had written this TY to you but it seems to have disappeared. I am pretty tired & going to try to sleep for a bit. I can breath & am not sneezing like crazy or dripping like a faucet.. might just be able to rest a bit.
The nice negative ions of the rain might help.
thank you again

I don’t know how to create the title tags...That’s a step You’d have to ask another to help you with...but as for what I know to do...I just copy the URL line...as is...nothing added.
But like I said the coplete way to do it would mean having the title tag portion & that part I don’t yet know how to do.
There are plenty of people around who do though...They’d be glad to help you too,I’m sure!

Dear Dolly and all who lost a beloved Pet.
When our precious pet a cat died a few years ago a friend sent this to me:
May I Go
Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days and endless lonely nights?
I’ve lived my life and done my best, an example tried to be.
So can I take that step beyond, and set my spirit free?
I didn’t want to go at first, I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now to a warm and living light.
I want to go, I really do; it’s difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can to live just one more day.
To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears.
I know you’re sad and afraid, because I see your tears.
I’ll not be far, I promise that, and hope you’ll always know,
That my spirit will be close to you wherever you may go.
Thank you so for loving me. You know I love you too,
And that’s why it’s hard to say goodbye and end this life with you.
So hold me now just one more time and let me hear you say,
Because you care so much for me, you’ll let me go today.

jaycee.. that pix is like my first cat as an adult. When Bob & were first married & we were living in Boston & he was in OCS in Newport & had orders to go to Yankee Station(Vietnam) for a year or so cruise.
He bought me a white persian. We called her Fluffy(how original?) to add to her long pedigree name. She had a couple pedigree liters & once did her own “shopping” & had a cute liter of kittens that I kept several of (my son cried when we talked about “placing them”.. he thought it was wrong to break up the family)
She lived about 12 years

He then followed up with a matching sunset but I wasn't able to get a good shot of it.
Praying my friend provides y'all with numerous Blessings
