Chief Justice John Roberts Suffered Seizure, Remains in Hospital
Monday, July 30, 2007
WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts suffered what is being described by doctors as a "benign idiopathic seizure" after falling Monday at his summer home in Maine.
He is staying in Penobscot Bay Medical Center overnight for observation, court officials told FOX News.

Ping for Justice Roberts.
Thanks for posting the update on Chief Justice Roberts.
So very thankful to hear the good news. Continuing to keep him and his family in prayer.
Ping.
I’ve had every test imaginable, and no cause has ever been found. CJ Roberts had a textbook seizure from all indications.
That being said, how long until the libs start a whisper campaign about his “suitability” for his position? Over/under?
Rest and be well, Chief Roberts. You’ve got the best legal mind I ever heard. America needs you. God bless and deliver.
My prayers for Chief Justice Roberts and his recovery. Prayers for his family as well.
Did you know ancient Egyptians had no idea what the brain was? All these years later, there are still mysteries about the brain.
Sounds just like a seizure my brother had on a hot summer day -- some 40 years ago -- never another one; no known cause. You do have to wonder if heat and/or dehydration is a factor.
Good post, reminds me of what I go through. The lights turning on and off real fast were what they refer to as “markers”........mine is a sound in my head like a jetliner reaching lift off speed. I have about 8 seconds before I go.
Been there many times with the waking up and seeing people (usually paramedics first) and slowly starting to remember. Imagine your worst headache and times it by 10, that is how my head feels when regaining consciousness. It really is a very scary thing, just ask my wife! LOL
The medication I take is strictly to control the severity of them, not to stop them.
Technically, if somebody has a seizure, they are not supposed to drive for six months.
phew..
“Were your driving privileges restricted? It is a common practice in California...”
No. My neurologist, also a member of the state legislature, urged me not to drive for a while and wanted me to go on meds for at least six months. But I declined the meds and drove. I did so because the warning signs before the seizure, what another writer above called “the aura”, were so clear. I knew I would be able to see another seizure coming, if it were to come.
The reason I didn’t see the one in 1999 coming was because I had never had one before.
My goodness ... there certainly IS something going on there. Wonder what it is .. if it’s something in the water has someone had it tested?
“phew”? With no other followup? I guess you want me to read your mind??? No can do.
Most hospitals ask you how much information they want released. Without a release, the national HPPA laws prevent the hospitals from even identifing that the patient is there.
This happened with a local mayor who entered one hospital and had to go to another one in town. Hospital A did not perform heart surgery. Hospital B did. The decision was made to transfer the Mayor from A to B because it made sense not to do a test that might result in an immediate need for survery.
Unfortunately, the Mayor never signed off on Hospital A’s information sheet, so the local newspaper made it sound like he did not have “faith” in Hospital A or they were not “qualified” to perform the operation. It made A look really bad. And the hospital was helpless to say a word about it. Finally, after all the testing was done the mayor had a press conference to straighten things out.
The media people at Hospital A were frustrated beyond belief.
Depends on state law I think... here in Texas I believe they have to be seizure free for a year. (Though it can be with medication).
I was just sayin’ I’m done with tap water. It’s got all kinds of junk in it and if he’s been up there on vacation drinking tap water where he’s staying instead of bottled water like at work, it could be tap water. Just a theory.
I have my share of detractors here but sometimes I figure stuff out much to their surprise. Suffice it to say he’s in better shape than Tim Johnson. I haven’t heard lately if Tim Johnson has re-learned to speak, etc. He is not surrendering his seat though. democrat-South Dakota.
