Chief Justice John Roberts Suffered Seizure, Remains in Hospital
Monday, July 30, 2007
WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts suffered what is being described by doctors as a "benign idiopathic seizure" after falling Monday at his summer home in Maine.
He is staying in Penobscot Bay Medical Center overnight for observation, court officials told FOX News.

I’ll never understand why there is such an interest from people here as to what’s being said at DU.
May God heal him....please!
Something like this happened to me in 1999. I was in a West Marine looking at stuff. I started to feel as though the lights were turning on and off real fast. I tried to fight the feeling that something going to happen as this visual staggering continued.
The next thing I knew was I was hearing the sound of sirens and these customers were standing in line at the checkout counter all staring at me. Someone’s hands were on my shoulders and I was sitting in one of those white vinal fishing chairs—covered with blood.
I didn’t know where I was or who I was. The West Marine guy was part time. He was also a doctor. When he realized I was awake, he started asking me “do you know what year it is?”
I didn’t. But it all came back to me pretty quickly.
They said I collapsed while looking at merchandise. There was a witness to it. I was on the floor, eyes open, shaking, in full seizure. Then it ended and I was unconsious. The blood was from hitting my head on the concrete floor. Seven stiches.
I spent two nights in the hospital. They ran many tests. Found no problems.
I am 52 now. Have not had a seizure since. I take no medications for seizures. However, there have been a number of occasions where I could feel a seizure coming on. They are induced by light conditions. For several years, I could not go into a Home Depot. It was the lights in there, not Tony Stewart. I have had to wear sunglasses in the West Marine, but not for several years now. Sometimes going quickly in and out of sunlight, like through the shadows of trees, will give me that bad feeling.
I just stop what I am doing and shut my eyes for about 30 seconds. The feeling goes away.
Most people don't have them, and you should thank God for that.
As one who had a couple, a very long time ago, I can tell you that there is frequently no proximate cause, though stress is often cited as tributary. There is no warning, and there are no lingering effects, unless you incur some secondary injury during the seizure.
Those I had came on me in my sleep. I awoke with a complete inability to control my own body; a very wierd predicament, indeed. I could hear myself, and I could hear everyone else in the room, but I had exactly ZERO control; I couldn't even open my own eyes. Throughout each event it was is if I were merely an inside observer, powerless to intervene.
and as long as we are praying, let’s ask God for even greater mercy by helping one of the really older justices to retire (Souter, GInsberg, Breyer)...This year!
No such luck for his passengers, though.
BTTT!
Chuck the Schmuck is doing the happy dance. The guy ran circles around Chuckie.
Pray for W and Justice Roberts
A prayer said for John Roberts, our Chief Justice, and a prayer for our country as well.
The forces of evil are restless.......
Yep - flickering or strobing lights can lower the tolerance to fight off a seizure in some folks.
Thank goodness you can sense it (often called an “aura”) .. and you’ve probably been able to fight it off. Good for you!!! :-)
My son has epilepsy - and while lights don’t bother him - lack of sleep and lack of water do. We’re extra careful in the summer ... Praise the Lord he hasn’t had a seizure in over 3 years now! He’s still on meds -but we’re in the process of cutting them back. He never did have an aura with his .. he’d just go down.. ;(
Actually I’m relieved to hear Roberts had a seizure in 1993. I was worried he had a brain tumor, now that seems unlikely.
Wonder if someone has been prescribing medications you’re supposed to avoid if you are prone to seizures?
Julius Caesar had seizures.
However, he died from a stab in the back.
We’re somewhat interested in what’s being said at Democratic Underground, Daily Kos, MoveOn.org, the
Huffington Post, etc. for a number of reasons. First, it’s always good to know your enemy.....second, we like to laugh at these liberals and their absurd comments and thought processes (or lack thereof), and third, we have to shake our heads in disbelief when we realize these moonbats have the right to vote.
Rockport is a small, gorgeous coastal Maine town. I would imagine their hospital is somewhat small as well. The fact that Justice Roberts is remaining in this hospital is a good sign.....if his condition was life threatening, they would probably have moved him to a much larger hospital in either Bangor, Augusta, or Portland.
I heard a report that he is being held overnight for observation. I’m sure he’ll be in Washington on the first Monday in October, hopefully annoying the hell out of Schumer and the other liberals.
#####Julius Caesar had seizures.
However, he died from a stab in the back.#####
The guy who did it was named Brutus Schumer.
Maine has very strict laws regarding the privacy of hospital patients (and medical privacy in general), so I’m surprised any information was released about the Chief Justice.
#####Prayers up for Chief Justice John Roberts.#####
Ditto for that. Prayers are on the way!
I heard they did a brain scan and did not find any abnormalities.
Alexander also had seizures.
It looks like a case of dehydration. Ice cold pineapple or orange juice is the way to go. Fruit juice makes you feel cooler.
