BERLIN (Reuters) - Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has told a German magazine that the United States has too many problems in Iraq to become involved in armed conflict with Iran. ADVERTISEMENT
Military action is sometimes discussed in Washington as an option in trying to derail what it sees as Iran's drive to develop nuclear weapons.
The United States "is not in a position to get into a new military conflict," Mottaki was quoted as saying in an excerpt of an interview to be published in Focus magazine.
"170,000 American soldiers can guarantee neither their own safety nor the security of Iraq," he said.

Does he want to find out?
Sounds like a challenge
US not too stretched to take out the well of nth Mahdi in Qom at any time.
Who says that we have to attack them from the ground to attack them? We can deliver overwhelming destructive force from other means, deliver them massive setbacks and not have to send boots in.
What’s the crew of a B-2? Four guys?
100% identical to the Democrats.
BTW a question for Mottaki... if we are really so weak, why is Iran desperately trying to obtain Russian-Chinese Defense equipment... are you afraid?
Because that might open the door to a massive US strike against Iran, with absolutely no effort on our part to involve ourselves on the ground. Oh, you're in the Stone Age? So sad. Can't help ya! Bye!
Whats the crew of a B-2? Four guys?
SHAZAAM!!! Goodbye Iran-Hello Ashtray!!!
IIRC....two guys.
you noticed that as well
Of course we could wipe them out with bombs, nuclear or conventional. But we won’t. We don’t have the warrior’s heart anymore, at least our politicians don’t.
So the next question is do we have enough men in boots? I don’t think we do and that is Bush’s biggest failure. He needed to increase the size of our military.
If we are to be the world’s police force we need a lot bigger army.
WHEN we go into Iran, many of our problems in Iraq will dissolve.
The US Navy and Air Force are not stretched. We certainly have the forces to attack any country or even multiple countries at the same time regardless of the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nobody is talking about taking over Iran with ground forces.
When the time comes to withdrawl from Iraq, I hope they withdrawl through Iran.
I’ll repeat what Michael Rubin said recently on Hugh Hewitt.....”Iran is dangerously overconfident”
Don’t they need a couple of guys to serve sandwiches or something?
Hitler declared war on us thinking the same thing after Pearl Harbor.
I'm not disagreeing at all.
But there's load of irony there. We don't have the warrior's heart -- and that's precisely why we are apt to get sucked into a long, drawn-out war, with thousands of US casualties. If we did have a warrior's heart, we'd land a knock-out blow and quickly get to a point where military involvement was no longer needed.
The Democrats and other cowards are precisely the reason why our wars now tend to turn into tragedies rather than victories.
Why do we need to be the worlds police force?
