I think prior to our involvement in WWII Roosevelt’s administration understood that we could not just leap in and attack Germany or Japan without the world body condemning us as the aggressors. They (The World) needed to see and feel the horror of war. Its the same thing here in our country in that many people bury their head in the sand and have no understanding of world history and the conquering history of all large nations or peoples. (Arabs, Chicoms etc...) They will need to feel the “Barbarians at the Gate” to understand that war is about absolute destruction of your enemy with the least damage to yourself.
We’re watching history repeat itself again.
