Powell served two tours of duty in Vietnam, was a battalion commander in Korea and was the recipient of numerous U.S. military decorations including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and the Purple Heart. You may not like him, but he is anything but a coward.

Look at what you said and describe for us the error you made.

Powell opposed going after the rest of the Iraqi army in the Persian Gulf war, he opposed aiding the Kurds and the marsh Arabs against Saddam’s regime, and he opposed the second gulf war. What policy does he think would work?

Powell apparently wanted to continue to use Saddam as a control for the rising Iranian mullah threat. Using one tyrannical dictatorship to control another tyrannical dictatorship may look good on paper, but in the end you still end up with 2 tyrannical dictatorships. Now we only have one and its evil intent has been exposed to the Free World. The question that remains: Is George Bush really 'All Hat and No Cattle' ? He has nothing to fear now except fear itself.

“The rest of them are scared to death, with good reason, that they too will be kidnapped, tortured, raped and beheaded and their families will, too, if they speak out against the killers.”

So you’re suggesting that they keep silent when their co-religionists perpetrate acts of terrorism? If the peaceloving Muslims want peace, they have to learn to stand up and deliver. Otherwise we will be in a rut forever and the West will be at war with Islam forever. So what should it be?

FORMER US secretary of state Colin Powell has revealed that he spent 2 1/2 hours vainly trying to persuade President George W. Bush not to invade Iraq and believes today’s conflict cannot be resolved by US forces.

“I tried to avoid this war,” Mr Powell said at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado. “I took him through the consequences of going into an Arab country and becoming the occupiers.”

Explains why Powells toady, Richard Armitage, caused the mess some of us refer to as Phlameoutgate, doesn’t it?

Never thought Powell was this petty.

I sometimes wonder if along the way, he was recruited and guided along his career...I suppose I’ll get flamed, but that’s the way it goes..

I will never flame you for ANYTHING you say about Powell.

He is a duplictious, slimy weasel and nothing about him or his background would surprise me.

Anther “billiant” appointment by the Bush II.

I purchased his book right after it first came out. I could not even read half of it. It went in the book case unread. Since his puke stances as SofS, I finally just threw the damned thing in the trash. He got the money, but I at least put his stinking book where it belonged. I lost all respect for him. He is one general I would never like to serve under. He is a total loser.

It’s shame how many people need that obvious yet critical distinction slowly spelled out to them, but thank you for doing a very good job of doing so.
