A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror "spectacular" this summer, according to a senior official with access to the document.
U.S. officials have kept the information secret, and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said today on ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that the United States did not have "have any specific credible evidence that there's an attack focused on the United States at this point."
As ABCNews.com reported, U.S. law enforcement officials received intelligence reports two weeks ago warning of terror attacks in Glasgow and Prague, the Czech Republic, against "airport infrastructure and aircraft."
The warnings apparently never reached officials in Scotland, who said this weekend they had received "no advance intelligence" that Glasgow might be a target.
Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff declined to comment specifically on on the report today, but said "everything that we get is shared virtually instantaneously with our counterparts in Britain and vice versa."
Unlike the United States, officials in Germany have publicly warned that the country could face a major attack this summer, also comparing the situation to the pre-9/11 summer of 2001.
I said before opening this link that it would be either NY Times or ABC NEWS and Brian Ross connected. I was dead on correct. Brian Ross will leak ANYTHING to compromise U.S. security.
Having said that...Chertoff is the biggest jerkoff we have had to deal with in quite some time. I do not like the guy at all.
Urinalists can’t and won’t keep anything secret except maybe the names of their sources.
Yes but this time it won’t carry a big enough zing because zero people were killed.
Seems to me that in the age of the Superpowers, both the US and the USSR had enough nukes so that neither country wanted to push things too far. The nukes mostly prevented horrific wars.
But in an unbalanced world, things are different. We fight with our arms behind our back, while the Islamic fascists commit atrocities without fear. I think the "threat" of our arsenal is not doing us any good. I think that if we want peace, if we want to avoid horrific wars ... then we ought to be fully prepared to nuke some troublesome cities. Just to show we can.
It's not like it will change anyone's opinion of us!
If it’s old school Al Qaeda who actually has had successful terror attacks happen then they could book Genesis, Rush, The Police, The Who, U2,and KISS.
If it is the idiots who are running the show now like the idiots in the UK...well then expect a spectacular show by Flock of Seagulls, Christopher Cross, Poison, Wang Chung, and White Lion.
Thank you for this book reference. I will read it...
If I were President, my "senior officials" would be bugged at all times. If they were caught sharing secret info with the press, they would be tried on charges which carry the possibility of the death penalty.
Brian Ross leaks again. He leaks EVERYTHING...and the White House says and does NOTHING. The Bush administration is terrified of the MSM.
Ping.
Check out the link in post # 9.
Thanks for the ping DC.
I hope you are having a good Sunday.
Do we really need more reasons to start shooting brown eyed people with diapers on their heads?
But health care is our number one crisis according to the dems!
What these pollyannas fail to understand, is that this
is a MUSLIM problem. And it is up to them to solve it
or suffer the consequences.
We're going to lay low that day now, because you said so.
Exactly, Bush should just tell the entire world on live TV that should the terror “spectacular” become real, there will be a bright flash on Mecca and Medina.
We are going to have to do it someday...why wait. They are out to kill us and rule the world so GAME ON !
I don’t see how this could be true, Chertoff has had lots of free time lately trying to ensure open border policies and amnesty for all foreign born criminals in America.
Surely, if we were truly at risk, he could have been spending his time in more productive ways.
Isn't that the day Gore is having his global warming concerts?
Brian Ross would sell his grandmother for a story.
