Hi Everyone! I know this is really early, but I thought this would give everyone a chance to make plans & start saving pennies for the trip.
The 2008 shoot will be held May 3rd, at Schwenkes Gun Range (4407 FM 1069) in Aransas Pass, Texas (35 miles SE of Corpus Christi. The cost will be $15.00 per person.
Schwenkes is a private gun range, that charges its members $50.00/year. I met with Mr. Schwenkes today, he said since I seem like a nice lady, he would allow us to use his range. He also said if I would give him the time we will be there, he would close the range to his members. He smiled as he said the following, This range is for members only, some may complain, but I own the darn thing and can make up the rules as I go along.. I am thinking 10:00 2:00. Let me know if you think it should be longer or shorter.
There are only two rules set in stone; 1) pick up your brass and deposit it in a tub at the end of the shooting area, and 2) when shooting at the rifle range aim at the mounds, there are cows in the area and he doesnt want them dead! The maximum target distance on the rifle range is 200 yards.
For our Memorial Shoot attendees that do not shoot, there are lots of tourists stuff for you to do so you want be bored at the range. The U.S.S. Lexington tour is awesome, Padre Island (Port Aransas) is always fun to cruise and Rockport is right around the corner.
Food & fun will follow at Deer Camp South after the shoot.
The trailer at DCS will sleep about 8ish people, if anyone wants to sleep there. If you are a camping type person, you can pitch a tent in the yard or if you have a camper, you can park it in the yard. For those that like luxury lodging, there are several hotels in Aransas Pass and the surrounding area (Rockport, Port Aransas and Ingleside) and Corpus Christi is 35 miles away. To get to Port Aransas you will have to ride the ferry ~ a whopping 5 minute trip (the wait in line may be a bit longer). MAJOR BIT OF ADVICE - - Choose a major hotel/motel chain when you pick your lodging!
The closer it gets to the date of the shoot, the more I will go into details.
You bring steaks, I’ll cook them.
A few at a time, but they will git cooked!
We’ll see what happens. Doesn’t hurt to have a little turf with the surf, though!
I'm going to try to take off the Friday before and come down to help set-up.
And grill shrimp.
You can’t bring the wild wheelchair without bringing the tame wheelchair! Use your - uhm - discretion as to which wheelchair you bring.
Here is the game plan . . . the geriatric sluts are leaving Houston on Thursday night, after the queen slut gets off work. Friday morning we head off to purchase food stuff, then do yard work & food prep. Friday evening we will meet up with several FReepers for dinner.
You & Eaker can be in charge of the yard work, while the women folk can handle the food prep.
Just out of curiosity...how close is the nearest ER to DCS? You must know because...well, you're married to Eaker. ;-)
4.7 miles.
LOL - I’ll bet you didn’t have to look that up, either.
Where mah 50cal? It’s Gator eatin time!
Gatortail gumbo!
If ya posted a pic, my firewall is blocking it.
I saw that bad boy while walking DCS early this morning. By the time I went back to get the camera, Eaker & his gun, I was only able to get these three pic’s.
I called the game warden but got no answer, so I called the sheriff’s office. I was told (1) the game warden would not come out unless the thing was in the “yard”, and (2) it is illegal to shoot them.
WOO HOO! Gator on the grill!
I posted three pic’s. I will email them to you.
Illegal to shoot them? really?
Remember S C E, shoot, cook and eat and quit botherin that poor old sheriff and game warden.
Where’s “Steve Irwin when ya need him - CRI-KEE!”
Really!
The lady said, “believe it or not there are a lot of gators in the area.”.
Common sense would say make it legal to shoot them, then they would not be a lot of them in the area!
Eaker & discussed that. We will be doing some internet research on how to skin a gator.
