Call and e-mail your senators today, Republicans and Democrats, urging them not to table debate on this critical piece of legislation.
It deserves a fair and open debate of all ramifications. To do otherwise is unamerican.
Ask them to vote "NO" on cloture.

I wasted more time writing and calling her office but finally just gave up over a year ago. She’s just a socialist/communist. That’s the only way I can describe her.

I think I found it on world net daily to begin with but it was on a thread here as well. I just got everyone riled up, that’s all. Being a fast typer has its benefits.
What is truly amazing is how FEW constituents liked this bill. I visited two of the leading leftwing blog sites, and they were both delighted it had failed. I honestly think the only people who liked it were those who had NO idea what was in it (but believed a bunch of lies) and the Illegals. Nobody else at all, so far as I can see, could even stand the sight or sound of the thing.

The 1996 Republican authored and clinton signed, Immigration Reform Act did JUST THAT!
It erased the anchor baby from the law. The child was still a US citizen, but cutody follows the parents of the minor thus the child went home with the deported parents.
All this promise to bring this bill back was pure pandering.
The Durbin Dream Act is just an effort to EXPAND the Anchor Babies not only back into law but to mean ANY MINOR in theUSA can be used as an anchor baby. ANY MINOR!
There were many as angry as us on DU today stating they were calling Boxer. I think she DID listen to her constituents.
For once, many of the talking points on amnesty threads on FR and DU were the same, believe it or not.

I want to caution everyone. We won round one, but this isn't dead at all. We may relax for the moment, but don't dare go to sleep.
While we await their next trick, we need to self-organize into contact lists via email, to rapidly pass information to one another in fora other than FR. Everyone should make their own contact lists to fully inform their friends of the dangers of this bill -- and similar follow-ons.
Let me give you an example. I called a friend in the highest levels of the EB -- you be the judge of where that might be -- and he did not know that any of the most objectionable provisions were even in the bill. If someone there doesn't know, imagine how many of your associates and family are also unaware.
This information is readily available, on this site and numerous others. Cut it, paste it, and forward it along. The more people know about S 1348, the more they despise it. Teach them.
Now, imagine how many more calls, letters, faxes, and emails would come from a better informed electorate.

Green Card’s not instant though is it? I’m against an invasion which is what this senate bill would have spawned.
I think I’ll join ol’ Teddy in a drink, except mine is in celebration for this step in “one step at a time” to kill this bill. I am still in shock and positively giddy that we won tonight!
My cable TV finally decided to make a reappearance now that everything is over. If I was from the DUmp, I’d think Bush had my cable killed today. LOL
