Today is the Cloture Vote on Immigration Bill [first cloture vote fails; 2nd cloture vote fails]
7 June 2007 | Gulf War One

Posted on 06/07/2007 6:17:41 AM PDT by Gulf War One

This is the homestretch.

Call and e-mail your senators today, Republicans and Democrats, urging them not to table debate on this critical piece of legislation.

It deserves a fair and open debate of all ramifications. To do otherwise is unamerican.

Ask them to vote "NO" on cloture.

Keep bumping this to the top.

Today is the day.

Hell yes. Let’s rub it in Durbin’s face in 2008.

We fight like hell, but we win like hell too, when on our game.

BTTT. Off for a celebratory margarita.

The report on the Fox News website re: the bill’s defeat is one of the worst misrepresentations of what was actually in the bill I have yet seen. I would have thought by now somebody at Fox at least had a clue.

It is not dead yet. The boys and girls in the back room will be at it again. Both Reid and McConnell were recently on the floor bloviating about their wishes to continue to work on the bill until whenever Reid wishes to return to the measure. Reed says Pubblies did not vote for cloture. He fails to note that a number of democrats voted against cloture including Byrd, Dorgan, Landrieu, Rockefeller, Stabenow, Tester, Boxer, Sanders, McCaskill & Backus. The way this bill could pass is to strip the bill of the data privacy and guest worker provisions.

They filled some tunnels with cement. I bet they did it cuz they wrongly thought tunnels would no longer be necessary and on the evening news, it looked like they were doing something to secure the border. They USE the media. We know what their tactics are.

They can't fool us.

Meaning no disrespect for the decent people who serve in Congress and they know who they are. CONGRESSMAN BILL YOUNG. DR. DAVE WELDON.

Please point out no one mentions terror cell relatives who will take advantage of this.

I request also... humbly, the economics of this amnesty and the costs to taxpayers from the last two amnesties to today... all the numbers. How much it costs to educate bilingual, hospital closings, law enforcement, prisons, in state tuition, housing, the growth of previously eradicated diseases... etc. The projected cost of all the goodies they get as soon as it passed... don’t forget the ‘allow even felons in’ vote as well.

Crime stats, drugs caught coming across, births (while pointing out they can’t pay the fine, who pays for the yearly births), on top of our aid to Mexico.

Tyson Foods and Pilgrim's Pride, large scale poultry agribusinesses, have signed on for amnesty.

They are both members of the American Meat Institute, which is the trade association (aka lobbyist) for the meatpacking industry in DC. Several hundred companies belong to the AMI, which represents their political interest in DC (such as Shamnesty).

Other members are Hormel, Cargill, Libby, etc.

When you look at that list, you are looking at the DC lobbyists. The American Home Builders Assoc. is the chief DC lobbyist for 5,000 building companies.

What up with PA? Santorum is really smart.

If Santorum was so smart, he wouldn't have worked to save Arlen's sorry behind in 2004 - setting the stage for him to try to shove amnesty down our collective throat in 2007.

I know manny dozens of immigrants, including my wife and my dearly departed fraternal grandparents.

Durbin is a rancid and disgusting fool with his pathetic sob stories.
