A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

Warm Fuzzy Wednesday Haiku


Henri Haiku





I'm just a wide eyed
little Boy Cat. Whose face is
round and kind of flat

Pointed ears above
a wide forehead makes a start
that can touch the Heart

"Cute" is a word I
hear a lot. Given after
some studious thought

My Tail is not as
big as I would like. Too small
for this anxious Tyke

Did I swallow a
Squeaky-Toy? This voice is soft
and sometimes annoys!

Paws are also on
the small side. I wait for them
to grow big and wide

My face will change as
Time goes by. My Humans will
see a Handsome guy




It was worth the wait
and time to grow. Now I can
say, "I Told You So!"

Warm Fuzzy Wednesday Poetry


Medea





I can sit comfortably atop my tucked in Paws for hours on end
Well aware that My Pretty One will eventually Surrender and Bend
At her slender Waist to touch my deep and silky Fur

Surrounding gentle fingertips that disappear as I look up and Purr
Flexing luxuriantly here and there as the Dance of Enchantment begins
Not caring much at all that it might be considered a Sin
To be scooped slowly to fill the cup that is My Pretty One's palm

While her fingertips dip and swirl to keep me calm
Relishing all this attention as my folded ears brush her cheek
Offering a view of several Room's that I occasionally strive to seek
Before our noses touch and we relax upon the Big Long Chair

Settled elegantly in My Pretty One's lap, I wonder if it's fair?
If being so delightfully pampered should be my claim to fame?
The ability is incredibly easy, since "Medea" is my name

First Encounters





Just who and what exactly are these Little Fuzzy Lumps?
That seem to walk around on tiny legs beneath bodies round and plump
Like tiny Humans, moving slowly in a group and then on their own
Speaking in equally tiny words wrapped in high pitched tones

They roam and peck the Floor without the need for introductions
Making of their Exploration an incredibly large production
We Young Tigers watch from a distance, trying to comprehend





Our Fuzzy Party Crashers and the Curiosity that they lend
Employing a Strategy that includes neither Retreat or Attack
Spreading out and moving close as We Young Tigers playfully inch back

Curiously cautious of a potentially lopsided confrontation
Until the Little Fuzzy Lumps brush close and there is a gentle sensation
A surprising meeting of Animals, one unto the other
Hoping the Little Fuzzy Lumps do not think We Young Tigers are their Mothers!

Another Warm Fuzzy Wednesday Poem


Silver Vanilla Sky





My Pretty One loves to call me, "Silver Vanilla Sky"
But for the life of me, I have no idea why?
Given such a name, I should have my very own personal Staff

With a Weight Trainer and Masseuse, which would be a laugh
Since My Pretty One already fills those Job Descriptions very nicely
Giving me lots of Love and Attention between meals savored imprecisely
Upon a Saucer as the Kitchen fills with warmth and sights and sounds

As Dinner is prepared amidst Pots and Pans sliding noisily around
While My Pretty One talks on a little Box to another Potential Mate
I listen closely and hope that he does not try to ingratiate
Himself too forcefully or pretentiously between My Pretty One and I

To hear him being talked about, he sounds like a very intriguing Guy
The answer will come around Dinner Time and will be for all to see
If I decide to accept this Potential Mate long before he accepts me!

Kitty Yoga





Everyone looks at my pretty Fore paws, but not at my feet
Sometimes called Hind paws, though they need to be kept clean and neat
As my face and tail and all the rest of me
So I can always look my best for My Humans to see
That their Little Bitty Kitty takes hygiene so seriously

When keeping clean is one of the best things we Kitties do
Starting when Our Humans say these eyes are deep Azure Blue
Licking paws to rub Here and scrub over There
Discovering new ways to get the job done unaware
Of how Cute or Silly we may appear to those who may look on

I've found that the Sillier or more Cute I look, the more My Humans fawn
If I happen to be caught amidst the deep Cushions of The Big Long Chair
All tucked up and bent fluidly within my Private Lair
My Pretty One calls this "Kitty Yoga", though that isn't really fair
I'll get some gentle rubs between my Ears while I clean away with care!

Comparisons





Why do Humans think Little Kittens are so cute when they are at rest?
When Puppies also require just as much Special Time, I must attest
Is it just because petite Fur balls can curl up and fill a Nook or Cup?
Or look so completely Innocent when caught and the Jig is Up?

While Puppies work so hard to please Our Humans and make ends meet
Proving our unbridled Loyalty dashing around on noisy hands and feet
Delivering Newspapers, Slippers and Late Night Licks when least expected
Unlike the little Green Eyed Ones who excel at not being detected

Tucked up comfortably in the back of a Closet or upon a Window Sill
Soaking up warm Sunshine and strong energy until they get their fill
While after a hard Day's work I dreamily Nap upon My Pretty One's Bed
Smiling at the thought of a group of grown Kittens trying to pull a Sled!
