The tone of the debate and the attacks on long-time fellow Freepers for the cardinal sin of daring to support Rudy Giuliani in early 2007 around here have really saddened me. Instead of fighting the enemy FR is now imposing an 'ideological purity' test on FR members. The well-oiled train has gone off the rails and Mr. Robinson risks becoming the next Joe Farah - a fellow who started a great website for conservative news and opinions, but who gradually drifted off to la-la land, losing all credibility - and readership - in the process.
He has set himself squarely in the Internet media spotlight, doused himself with gasoline, and and lighted himself on fire - a fact that has not escaped the attention of the left-wing lunatics at Daily Kos. Their reporting on what has been going on at FR is perhaps the first factually true account published on their site.
Jim, if that quote of yours about setting up an organization to 'Swiftboat Rudy' is accurate as quoted in their article, the only thing I have to say to you is that you ought to be ashamed of yourself, as you have now become the back-stabber of the conservative cause.
If you wish to marginalize this site by turning it into a narrow "several-issue" forum, that is your right. Just as it is my right to choose to not participate here any longer.
But you will be disappointed if you think that the crude, illiterate "goon squad" you have allowed free rein around here (dmw, narses, dirtboy, extremely extreme extremist, ReaganMan and several others - if I have slighted anyone, please email me if you want onto this list) will elevate the level of intellectual debate.
The result has been predictably in the other direction. That is what happens when you hire a bunch of brown shirts to enforce your own brand of political correctness.
Well, guess what? Politics is 99% BS and one can quite nicely live one's life without the need to bloviate about it. I know how I am going to vote. I could care less about anyone else. Thanks, good work. A little history behind this. Someone else posted an article that quoted some woman that I had never heard of. I questioned the statements in the article and posted that I would try to contact the woman in question and post any response that I recieved. I didn’t have too much trouble finding the woman’s email address and she responded with the details of the Congressional ethics committee hearing. I posted it to FreeRepublic and almost got banned. A few days or a week later, this article was posted.
I have to add that Jim Rob knew who the woman making the statements was, and said that she was a nut. I think that she is the former wife of a member of the veterans’ group that hates McCain. So, there is some reason to question her. But it was talked about quite a bit before the 2000 race. Like I said, it was a he said/ she said, similar to Juanita Broderick, with no evidence to substantiate the charges. McCain did admit to having sex with the woman, though.
This is the reason I will not vote for McCain. He can't be trusted.
Seems to me it is rather fruitless to bring this up without a conviction. There are planty of reasons to argue against McCain, and Guiliani for that matter, without referencing unprovable allegations.

McCain did have a history of womenizing at the time of the alleged rape. McCain admits that it was his womenizing that caused the failure of his first marriage. McCain learned his lesson, maybe from the these charges.

I’d also like to note that those who were banned were not interested in discussion. They were obnoxious and obsessed with putting forth leftist talking points. That’s why the were banned, not because JimRob wants to “limit discussion.”

Idiotic? Why? If it destroys FR's credibility when JimRob ejects a few people who won't stop worshipping a socialist as the new conservative messiah, then why not invite DU and Kos in here? That would just make us more credible, because we could discuss all the issues without any of his pesky limits. Then we can bring in Liberty Post and Lucianne so they won't feel left out.
Like I said, those who were banned deserved it. That's why you can go into any thread on this board related to the candidates right now and find Rudy supporters still actively promoting their candidate. If you think FR's lost its credibility, you can stop posting here anytime. It's completely up to you, as long as you play nice. The victims of the Saturday Night Massacre didn't, and that's why they're gone.

Well, I’m not sure who I’m going to vote for in the primary, but no matter which Republican wins the primaries, I will vote for that one.
I’m leaning towards Newt, but there’s a lot I like about McCain, Giuliani, and Romney. I think they’re all fantastic, and all have great pluses about them.
The minuses about McCain, Newt, and Giuliani have to do with their personal lives. Cheating. I just vehemently disagree with those kinds of personal things.
However, that being said, I remember when Arnold was a cheating, sex harassing horrible guy, yet, I still voted for him over the Democrat candidate.
There seems to be a LOT of support out there for Giuliani, that I can tell. I know my husband likes him a lot. Who can forget the hero of 9/11?
