JIM ROBINSON AS THE NEW JOSEPH FARAH - STABBING THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT IN THE BACK [Re:Giuliani]
On one the few rational minds left around here - but for long | 4/24/2007 | Al Simmons

Posted on 04/24/2007 10:22:39 AM PDT by Al Simmons

About me:

Lurker - since 1998

Member - since 1999

In self-imposed exile - since April 2007

The tone of the debate and the attacks on long-time fellow Freepers for the cardinal sin of daring to support Rudy Giuliani in early 2007 around here have really saddened me. Instead of fighting the enemy FR is now imposing an 'ideological purity' test on FR members. The well-oiled train has gone off the rails and Mr. Robinson risks becoming the next Joe Farah - a fellow who started a great website for conservative news and opinions, but who gradually drifted off to la-la land, losing all credibility - and readership - in the process.

He has set himself squarely in the Internet media spotlight, doused himself with gasoline, and and lighted himself on fire - a fact that has not escaped the attention of the left-wing lunatics at Daily Kos. Their reporting on what has been going on at FR is perhaps the first factually true account published on their site.

Jim, if that quote of yours about setting up an organization to 'Swiftboat Rudy' is accurate as quoted in their article, the only thing I have to say to you is that you ought to be ashamed of yourself, as you have now become the back-stabber of the conservative cause.

If you wish to marginalize this site by turning it into a narrow "several-issue" forum, that is your right. Just as it is my right to choose to not participate here any longer.

But you will be disappointed if you think that the crude, illiterate "goon squad" you have allowed free rein around here (dmw, narses, dirtboy, extremely extreme extremist, ReaganMan and several others - if I have slighted anyone, please email me if you want onto this list) will elevate the level of intellectual debate.

The result has been predictably in the other direction. That is what happens when you hire a bunch of brown shirts to enforce your own brand of political correctness.

Well, guess what? Politics is 99% BS and one can quite nicely live one's life without the need to bloviate about it. I know how I am going to vote. I could care less about anyone else. Life is too short to waste my time around here when I am clearly one of those made to feel like they are not welcome.

So, go ahead Jim -

MAKE MY DAY. BAN ME. I DARE YOU.

>>If these guys had their way this would be a Party of one. We’re almost there now after the immigration debacle.<<

I’m glad to see you agree that GWB’s harebrained immigration stance has damaged the Republican party.

Last poll I saw, 48 percent of those responding said they would never, under any circumstances, in this or any known solar system vote for Hillary for president. Her negatives are insurmountable. Bill Rusher, a great conservative, said several years ago that he’d never seen a candidate any more destined to be destroyed in a national, 50-state election than Hillary Clinton. That’s why I’ve said, not just now but for years here, that Hillary will not be the Dems’ candidate in 2008. We all know there are loons on the other side, but there are also political pros who are not inclined to commit seppuku by letting her get her hands on the nomination. Plus Dean hates the Clintons’ guts and will do everything he can to impede them.

Ben Franklin, we tried but we couldn't keep it

A Free State...If You Can Keep It by Robert F. Hawes Jr.

It is said that, at the close of the Constitutional Convention, a woman approached Benjamin Franklin and asked him what type of government had been decided upon by the delegates. Franklin stated: "We have given you a Republic, if you can keep it."

Franklin, of course, also believed that the Constitution could only last as long as the people themselves could sustain it:

and "I say Ye of Little Faith!" Extremely Extreme Extremist

Rudy may be a patriot (as is Lieberman), and that's wonderful. But he is not a conservative. If he was a member of Congress, voting the positions he's regularly advocated, his ACU rating would be 35, maybe 40. And his ADA rating would be 60.

Preferable to Harry Reid or Hillary or Obama or Edwards? Yes. But that doesn't make him a conservative.

If I recall correctly, Jim supported Schwarzenegger in that one and I believe it was out of sheer pragmatism (ie., Arnold could WIN against whatever Democrat he would ultimately face).

You recall correctly. Mr. Robinson endorsed Arnold over McClintock.

In that context, Rudy holds up pretty well!

Who was the coward that folded and ran away in the face of Hillary in 2000?

He dropped out after he found out he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Rudy is part of the conservative movement? Since when? Do you even know what the conservative movement stands for? Do you have any idea whatsoever how much damage Rudy is doing to the conservative movement?

The 'Rudy' problem is a very big one. The history of conservative politics in Canada is a good example of just how big it can get. Canada used to have three major parties - the Liberals (socialists), the PCs (once-upon-a-time conservatives) and the NDP (moonbats). The dilemma for the Canadian conservative voter was that the ideologies of any PC candidate was exactly the same as that of any Liberal one, barring minor details. The PC party was a party of Rudies. Voting on a party basis was completely useless - the conservative voter had to examine individual candidates irrespective of party allegiance, to see if any semblance of conservative representation was possible. Eventually, the PC party totally self-destructed, which was a good thing, because who needs two liberal parties anyway? And if American conservatives don't expel their Rudies, the same fate awaits the Republican party.

I will really miss some of my favorite posters... {insert list here - wave and sniff a little thinking about all the people you'll miss.}

That's my favorite part of the opus. After flaming hell out of the owner and insulting as many people as possible leave a list of FRiends who had no idea you were going to do this. Just a little present for the angry mob you whipped up.
