Well, sometimes, especially on highly charged issues like this, I’d rather just keep as light a hand on the tiller as possible to let the debate rage on. I always hope that most of our members share our common core values and it will eventually shakeout to a conservative consensus. In this case it did not. We’re now involved in a war of ideology and y’all know where I stand in that battle. We’ve received many shots over the bow during the last few months and you should know that we’re not going to turn tail and run. We’ve cleared the decks for battle.

I’m sorry that so many “on our side” have bought the liberals corruption of the term “swiftboating” that turned it into a pejorative. It isn’t. It means to shine the light of truth into the lies and distortions of unscrupulous politicians.
Rudy is prime for a swiftboating!

There you go! Fight for what's right and you never really lose. Sell out and you never really win.

Posting on FreeRepublic has never been a problem for me because, to the extent that there is any divergence between my libertarian views and the prevailing conservative views of this website, I do not use this forum to advance any contradictory positions.
***Excellent post. Maybe it should be in ALL CAPS so that some folks might get it.

Advocating for a Presidential candidate is asking the voters to put him, and by extension you, in charge of the country.
The form of advocacy which you are criticizing cannot and will not lead to victory.
That's all there is to it.

Rudy, thanks for coming on the program. Could you tell us tonight who your supporters are?
Well Bob, some of them here with us tonight.
Donkey Dude was able to show up and give his support, Hey DD! Sup?
And Bob, lets give a big hand to Looter Guy!
We are up against a break Rudy, so I will have to cut you short. Please sum up for us what you will do if elected.
Bob, if I win the election I will take your guns and encourage abortion, among other liberal policies.
Umm, Thanks Rudy for coming on the program. Good evening.

This is just my humble opinion but I don't see it as dying. I see it as a possible rebirth. The future of our country lies in the balance. Do you think rudy will lead this country in conservative causes or will he fling the WH doors open to let in liberal causes?
Where will the GOP then? The left have gone socialist and the right have turned left. Where does that leave conservatives? Out in the cold looking in.
Pushing a liberal on a conservative site is insanity. That's what the rudy supporters were doing to the detriment of this site.
Maybe FR is going through birthing pains right now and that's what you're seeing. Any woman who's given birth knows the pain, suffering and bloody mess involved in doing so. But when it's over, there's peace and something wonderful has been created. Don't be sad.
This country is standing on a precipice, does it fall into the black void of liberalism and socialism and get gobbled up like Europe or do we take a step back and say, not my country.
Electing rudy is the surest way of stepping off that cliff.
Mr Robinson is trying to pull us back from that edge. God bless him for it. He knows what he's doing, trust in him, have some faith. This site will not fold because some have left. They had a choice to make and they made it.
