Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

I've said similar things on many threads. Those comments have gone unanswered as well. Don't these people realize what they're having to say to maintain their support for Giuliani? I actually saw a fellow FReeper praise NYC's gun laws on another thread in an attempt to deflect criticism of Giuliani's gun record. Didn't we all excoriate Algore for this say-anything-to-win approach in 2000?

I'm always fascinated by the apparent need of some to write these over-the-top opi (opuses?). It takes no small amount of arrogance to feel that anyone actually cares whether you post here or not. I can't recall coming across more than a few of your posts in my 7 years here; somehow I don't think you'll be missed greatly.

This is a line in the sand being drawn here. Ya'll are betting all or nothing on Rudy being a demon. I don't see what you see. I see Rudy as a social liberal, political conservative. He could end up being a great conservative president. And I wonder, if that happens, what does that do to the credibility of all those here?

I smell opus. Is there one coming?

You're here. Still. What does that do to YOUR credibility?

That’s not a email - it’s a cut and past of a post on the open forum from JimRob to Delphinium.

I knew that.

I think its good to get it out. Some of us discussed whether to keep it secret but I think its good to get it out./ Freerepublic has alot of influence.

I heard about FR through the newsmedia, thats how I came to the site. Who knows what influencial, smart investigative type might join us.

Leave it in the Lords hands, He is with us.

So which side of that line do you stand?

I am socially liberal, politically conservative. I don't believe govt should be involved in social issues. I consider that 'conservative' -- less govt.

For almost a decade I've been here, fighting for political conservatism -- smaller govt, lower taxes, etc.

I do wonder if I'm welcome to continue my postings here on political threads.

Frankly, it would've been the perfect opportunity to "sell" your candidate to some of the undecideds here who are still shopping around, like me.

You really shouldn't be looking to "buy" a candidate. I don't care how you vote, just be an informed voter. Research the candidates and find the one that mostly resembles your beliefs and vote for him/her. Simple.

Sure. Just because he yanked thousands of gun permits, advocates national gun control, and his California spokesperson is a NOTORIOUS leftist Dem gun grabber, that doesn’t mean anything.

REALLY!? Give me a link.

False alarm. The "e-mail" that muleskinner is referring to was not an "e-mail". It was a post right here in this thread. Here's the link to that actual post that was later put up on DailyKOS.

Dominic Harr: -”In the past, we welcomed everyone, even folks who disagreed with us.”-

That’s never been Jim Robinson’s policy. As far back as I can remember, he’s made it clear that this was a place for conservatives, not for liberals, period. But, he can speak for himself.

From the link on the homepage:

I posted the following statement to our front page in response to the criticism I’m receiving lately as to not being fair and balanced and perceived mistreatment of trolls and assorted malcontents. Got news for all, I’m NOT fair and balanced. I’m biased toward God, country, family, liberty and freedom and against liberalism, socialism, anarchism, wackoism, global balonyism and any other form of tyranny. Hope this helps.

Statement by the founder of Free Republic:

In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side. Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I’m trying to attract to FR) support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule.

Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.

As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants.

We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.

Our God-given liberty and freedoms are not negotiable.

May God bless and protect our men and women in uniform fighting for our freedom and may God continue to bless America.

Jim Robinson

So, it doesn't bother you at all that abortuaries in the United States take more lives EVERY SINGLE DAY than the terrorists did on 9/11/01?
