Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Moreover, the likelihood of an AQ attack in such a way that I, with my shotgun...

You mean like a Mall shooting or a "sudden jihad syndrome" at a Jewish community center?

Think before you speak and make an idiot of yourself.

The evil implanted in man by nature spreads so imperceptibly, when the habit of wrong-doing is unchecked, that he himself can set no limit to his shamelessness.

“There are a LOT of them who think he’s a tough guy who will defeat the terrorists, and that there is no pro-life movement if everyone is dead. So my little “thing” is I get tired of people trashing those who LEGITIMATELY support Rudy for reasons they perceive to be human safety.”

And I get tired of being trashed for refusing to base personal safety (not that I think Rudy is the best for that either) on the blood of the unborn. I cannot stand before God and say that I saved my life, my family’s life, or my financial wellbeing by shedding the blood of unborn children.

But all of this is unnecessary - there are plenty of prolife candidates that are as good or better than Rudy on the WOT, and personal safety is not enhanced by taking guns away from the people. I fail to see why this is cast as an either/or proposition between Hilary and Rudy. But even if that was the case, would we really defeat Hilary by voting for her twin with a mustache?

Al didn’t bother to ping me either. I’m so saddened. /sarc

I didn’t realize supporting conservative Free Republic, conservative candidates, conservatism and the Constitution made me part of a “goon squad”. LOL Of course considering the source, I understand the crazed linkage.

Rudy Giuliani’s candidacy is definitely spliting Republicans into two opposing camps. The conservative camp of FR and the liberal camp of “ZOTSVILLE”!

Just got back from Idaho, where I was told your once-Libertarian governor has now become mainstream Republican and where the Boise area is now considered 50/50 red/blue. Yep, sounds like a real conservative trend to me.

And knowing that what you do really does count is also good to know.

I wish there was a more active GOP in my area so I could do something that makes a difference. As it is, I'm surrounded by too many local pol yellow dog dems.

“I get tired of people trashing those who LEGITIMATELY support Rudy for reasons they perceive to be human safety.”

But you have admit the irony. The one issue voters are Giuliani supporters. On this site it is not only life issues, though that is a hot emotional issue for many. It is that Giuliani leans left on a host of issues...abortion, guns, extra gay rights, open borders...the list goes on and on. None of the conservatives running are perfect but Giuliani is a liberal on most issues.

"Those who sell their liberty for security are understandable, if pitiable, creatures. Those who sell the liberty of others for wealth, power, or even a moment’s respite, deserve only the end of a rope... America’s historic misfortune is that her people have seldom been equal to the ideals upon which their nation was established. "— L. Neil Smith, The American Zone (2001)

5) The life of the unborn.

Your whole argument falls apart with the application of one simple fact: More than 3000 Americans are dying every single day at the hands of Rudy's ghoulish NARAL buddies. The terrorists got that many on only one day that I can think of.

"Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step over the ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! -- All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a Thousand years. At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide." - Abraham Lincoln

Being at that point in life is a good feeling. And knowing that what you do really does count is also good to know.

And knowing what God had in mind for you life is good too. Most of my friends became pastors, maybe because I screwed up so much He made me do politics.

When I leave it in His hands and do what ever I see that needs to be done, it is amazing what I see accomplished.

And to quote something another good friend always says;"Its amazing what one can accomplish if they are not worried about who gets the credit"

That hardly makes sense if you are talking about Ken Blackwell, who was the most clearly conservative candidate in our state's history; and even DeWine as as pro-life a candidate as you'll ever find. Exactly how did they "destroy the brand?" How did Talent, or Allen, "destroy the brand?"

You're going to have to do better than to keep claiming that "real conservatism" could have won in 2006. I wish it were otherwise, but I won't fool myself.

Considering he may indeed have a dem congress to deal with, I’d be very worried about Rudy grabbing your guns. And just on principle, why support a guy with such a flair for the anti-constitutional?

Rudy ain’t going to get the nomination. And your support for him, although tacit, is disturbing. It would be the equivalent if Lieberman jumped to the GOP and ran. A believer in the necessity of the WOT, but a liberal pimp in just about every other measure. It makes no sense for ANY conservative to support Rudy. He is running on name ID now, and will soon be running on fumes.

There is absolutely nothing in Rudy’s past, despite rhetoric, that says he would make a better CIC than the others, including Romney.

And only one guy, Hunter, is guaranteed to make a great CIC. Don’t count him out just yet.

Just like a liberal - nice opus Nancyboy...and indeed I’m saddened I didn’t make your list.

I thought for sure I'd have made that list. I guess I'm starting to slip...

Your whole argument falls apart with one vial of VX gas. There is no pro-life movement without the living. Period.
