We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
It's like junior high all over again.
Jim, thanks for all you’ve done, and everything that you are willing to put up with on behalf of the conservative cause.
“But what this country needs isn’t a conservative die-hard as much as it does a real leader. “
You don’t understand Leadership. Some of the best leaders in History have been some of the most evil and dispicable men. You choose a “real leader” (which you don’t understand leadership characteristics) of a die-hard conservative...son you are truely in the wrong place.
Go read up on Leadership when you have a chance. Your earlier statement that if someone leads you in the wrong direction means they are not a great leader. That is a foolish mindframe. You didn’t like the Hilter reference, which was indeed very appropriate to counter your argument, so how about Stalin, Lenin, the Mutada Al-Sadr, Osama Bin-Ladin, Aiman Al-Zawahri. You would discount all of them as great leaders. Well, I would say, their followers disagree(d).
But some posters are making it easier every day.
“If you’re going to attempt to frame my logic, put it in the context I phrased it in.”
A big part of what makes a man a leader is where hes going. If he can get folks to follow him in the wrong direction, hes not a great leader.
____________
No problem.
— A big part of what makes a man a leader is where he’s going.
(FALSE) Completely backwards logic. It’s who and how many people are “following” him/her...not where he/she is going.
— If he can get folks to follow him in the wrong direction, hes not a great leader.
(FALSE) The best leaders have the ability to take large numbers of people the wrong direction. Again it’s the “followiing” part that’s important. The direction is irrelevant to his/her leadership skills.

More BS! This thread served an excellent purpose
During the 2000 Prez campaign, JimRob cleaned FR`s house of the serious rightwing troublemakers. This time around Jim`s taking down the contingent of posters who keep promoting Rudy Giuliani as the best candidate for the GOP, in direct opposition to the conservative mission of Free Republic.
Time Free Republic returned to its roots. Advancing conservatism, promoting conservative candidates and defending the Constitution.
Another one just bit the dust on JR’s new thread.
The creep was supporting infanticide for disabled infants.
When you log on to a conservative forum ... a forum explicitly committed to pro-life, pro-family, pro-God conservative values ... and you can hardly read a thread of any length without seeing those values mocked or belittled ... something has to give.
(FALSE) The best leaders have the ability to take large numbers of people the wrong direction. Again its the followiing part thats important. The direction is irrelevant to his/her leadership skills.
let me rephrase...
(False) The best leaders have the ability to take large numbers of people the wrong direction. Again it’s the “following” part that’s important. If the followers have no feelings about the direction, the the direction is irrelevant to his/her leadership skills.
When Jim goes on the warpath, no liberal is safe!
He likes Rudy, you don't. Somehow that makes him disgusting. Interesting.
So who's your guy, Elyse?
He just slandered the vice president with NO evidence. That’s ok in your book, huh?
bookmark ping , on a familiar screen name (”hi”)
.. , it’s overdue for me to wade through this thread
Hey, that’s GOOD!
No, that was uncalled for, but calling him names in return isn’t the answer either. Whatever happened to agreeing to disagree?
Nevertheless, I'll be happy to answer you.
zeroisanumber and I were having a discussion. In the context of that discussion, we were talking about "leaders" and, in the context of that discussion, it was understood that both of us were talking about leaders in the sense of good men who people will follow. In fact, in the context of that discussion we were talking about who would be a good leader for this nation in 2008. A certain amount of that was understood, but we were both reasonable enough to understand it.
We were having a disagreement about whether or not certain candidates fall into that category, but there was never any misunderstanding between us about the context in which we were using the term.
Now you're still going off on a rant about Hitler and a whole cast of characters who absolutely and in no way fit the term in that context.
I sincerely hope you are not representative of the caliber of poster who will be replacing all the folks who are being banned. You've added nothing but vitriol to what was otherwise a decent conversation, even if it was a disagreement.
Respond if you like. I'm leaving work and going home and won't be back to FR until tomorrow ... assuming I'm not banned when I try to log on. If you've anything to say in response to this, I'm sure I'll respond then.
Maybe you can even bait me into saying something nasty and getting myself kicked off of FR, and then you can go around all day long butting into conversations and ignoring context and defining words for yourself and posting things like "you don't understand leadership" and "which you don't understand leadership characteristics" and "son you are truely in the wrong place" and "Go read up on Leadership when you have a chance" to people who have no ability to respond.
The country has been moving leftward for a long time. Unfortunately, the trend has been the most prevalent nexis in the breakdown of the family, the glue that keeps advanced societies whole. Divorce, abortion, homosexualism, free sex, multi-culturalism and other assorted isms have degraded our society to a point I do not even recognize anymore. Our media and an assortment of politicians promote these ideas relentlessly. The only result of a continuation of these trends is toward a nation that will look like much of Old Europe today. I am too old to see this complete it’s course in my lifetime, but perhaps it will happen soon enough. In the meantime it is worth our while as conservatives to buck those trends with every effort we can muster.
Some seem to have accepted those unhappy consequences as inevitable. I do not. Some of you are perfectly within your rights as a citizen to support a candidate such as Giuliani. However, I think he is not the right candidate for these times or any other. Perhaps my old fashion conservatism is not compatible with some of the other Freepers around here and I accept that, but I will not compromise my principles at the ballot box.
We have too long been presented with choices of candidates for public office where a decision turns on who is the least objectionable. Too many have been voting for the lesser of two evils for a long time. It is time to stop this nonsense once and for all. If you wish to see more of things like judicial activism, big government, a culture of death, uncontrolled immigration, a demeaning of our military and further shredding of our Constitution be my guest. I will not be a party to such a travesty.
