Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

You got it from the liberal news stories?

Actually the news stories were more or less in favor of what he was doing, but mentioned the unhappiness people felt with being railroaded.

LOL!

They were in favor?...but they mentioned unhappy people?

Believe me...when the DBM mentions unhapppy people in a news story, it means they are not in favor of the subject they are righting about.

lol...now that I’ve gone to read other threads and I’m back, I see what you mean.

Sad that you’d need to link something like that these days, but I know why you did. Just so ya know, I’d have understood anyway. :)

>>>>>Most of this thread is counter productive.

BS!

This thread served an excellent purpose. It exposed the liberal supporters and promoters of Rudy Giuliani more then any thread before. Thats a good thing. It gave JimRob the opportunity to place all the RudyBoosters and RudyLoons on notice, ONCE AND FOR ALL. It also shook up ALL you troublemakers and revealed you for the misfits, malcontents and militants you really are.

This thread also gave you --- OhioW(hining)Fan --- and others another opportunity to cry, bitch, moan and groan to your hearts content. Which is what you do most of the time anyway. It gave you a golden opportunity to tell everyone how mistreated and victimized you are around FR. And it gave you a perfect chance to lash out at those you hate, while you talk down this great conservative website. All because you got your feelings hurt.

Bottom line. Everyones on notice.

Time for Free Republic to get back to its roots. Time for Freepers to once again defend the Constitution, advance conservatism and promote conservative candidates. Free Republic doesn't exist to advance liberalism and promote liberal candidates.

This thread was very productive!

I’m not going to argue with you about my memories of old news stories of a city I didn’t live in, didn’t want to live in, didn’t plan to visit, nor paid huge amounts of attention to.

You want to argue with my memories, fine. But you can do it without my conscious attention.

I too was inspired by his words after 9/11. And I think he was a good mayor for New York City. And in some ways, I wouldn’t mind him being president. I don’t think he is evil incarnate.

I just don’t equate the feeling he gave me after 9/11 with actual leadership. It FELT like it, but when I objectively examine his record, I see it was all feeling and emotion for me, not anything he actually did or accomplished.

That’s not an “indictment” of him, I don’t think there was something he was supposed to accomplish that he didn’t or anything, I just don’t see him as really special or especially suited for being the leader of the war on terror.

When the fights first broke out here with Rudy people, I was on the pro-rudy side, NOT because I was going to vote for him, but because I didn’t like the attacks on Rudy, who I figured might well be our nominee. I don’t like us tearing apart our own people (I’m still defensive of all the other candidates we have, I’ve even been known to say nice things about Hagel and McCain).

But while defending him, I started realising I didn’t like the company I was keeping. As infantile as the anti-rudy people were from time to time, I found myself agreeing with their sentiment while decrying their words. And the rudy posters I was agreeing with were very unagreeable, very smug, ill-prepared to defend their candidate, full of words of fear and defeat.

And at some point, I decided that at least he had enough people fighting to keep him viable, and I decided I’d rather fight for a candidate I felt more in tune with. So I joined another hopeless cause, trying to defend Mitt Romney against those who said he was too liberal to support here. (Given the number of people who say that about Mitt, who’s way more conservative than Rudy, I think the Rudy people have nothing to complain about).

I’d be happy to vote for Mitt Romney, but I don’t think he’s going to win the primary. Heck, I’d love to have President Duncan Hunter, but I don’t expect that either. But I defend Romney because I think he’s a good man who is overly maligned out of fear he is lying to us, which I don’t think he is. But I’m not married to Mitt, he could lose my support as I learn more.

My guess is I’ll end up supporting Fred Thompson, because he’ll be viable and conservative. If I were in charge and it was the day to vote, I’d love to vote for a Thompson/Romney ticket.

Anyway, that’s how I feel about all this. I thank you for your opinions.

Perfectly understandable response for someone who freaks out and starts spewing about the Secret Service or FBI or whoever the wacko thinks she controls.

Read it for yourself.

To: mkjessup; M. Thatcher

M. Thatcher just oppused from FR via FReepmail. Says she’s going to alert the FBI to your post #5606 above. She claims it’s a “threat to candidates.” And she’s going to discuss it with her boss and her powerful friends in the media.

Just goes to show the lengths these Rudy supporters will go to attempt to shut down our right to political dissent.

Pity.

There is no threat against anyone in that post yet she is threatening to go to the FBI. If they can dictate what is posted on a conservative site our freedom of speech is being threatened.
