We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
I am impressed!
“Math is our friend” ;’}
Chena, the meaning of your post is not lost by me.
As I told RM before, it seems odd to call somebody you are currently politically allied with at this point in the political process, a non ally.
Seems counter productive.
Six, not five - should have used both hands to count those...
Sorry for the strikethrough.
But it might as well be crossed out, to some.
LOL!
This goes back to this message, I believe:

This was the part that I reacted to:
DCPatriot, not realizing the implications of the context (I hope, cause I like DCPatriot!)
And the conservatives that are strident on abortion and gun laws are going to have to become ‘average catholics’...in analogical parlance.
Good catholics who practice birth control. Divorced ones that still go to church and give up sweets for Lent.
Which was saying, join the ranks of the unfaithful or else.
Catholics might behave in that fashion in real life, picking and choosing from church teaching as they feel comfortably with, but the church says they aren’t being good catholics when they behave that way, although they might be good people. Encouraging a seriously faithful catholic who knows the church teachings on these issues is to invite them to commit mortal sin.
I am sure that’s not the intent of the analogy; but the problem is, conservatives that care about conservatism before general GOP membership would no doubt react the way I did on the invitation to join the ranks of those who are unfaithful to the church. There could be a point I could not hold my nose and vote for a GOP candidate just out of party loyalty. My core values could be stretched too far.
If the party drifts to far left and becomes too much like the Democrats, it will leave the conservatives behind, like the Democrats left southern conservatives. If it drifts far enough left, it will leave enough conservatives behind to form a viable new party. And when that happens, it will be ripped to shreds, like the Whig party before it.
The answer, IMHO, isn’t to become a Democrat-lite. Every step in being the party of the middle, instead of being seen as being a party of clearly defined values that are different than the left, undercuts the need for a Republican party.
But that is MHO. Your mileage may vary.
You want it both ways. If I didn’t know better, you’re starting to take on the demeanor of Howlin. Btw, wasn’t she your friend and mentor? Come on tell the truth, you’re a disciple of Howlin’s. Right? LOL
Those principles are the very foundation stones of our country.
If the house burns to the ground, but the foundations are still intact, you can easily rebuild. But...
"If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" - Psalms 11:3
We might not remember him enough, but we should thank God he was there to rise to the occasion.
Good post.
Amen.
So that is what this is all about??
Burn down the house and start over???
This isn’t priceless, this is ridiculous. My comments are there for all to see as is my posting history. I have made my opinion on this subject as clear as possible and yet you persist in misrepresenting my position on this issue.
No. Jim’s house is very much intact, especially the foundations. He’s just done a little spring cleaning is all, it would seem.
I've tried keeping my hands in my pockets when I do math, but the fractional numbers always throw me off.
I have repeatedly expressed my support, at this early stage of the political process, for Thompson and then Hunter.
***Then by all means, go on some Thompson and Hunter threads and push for a good conservative.
My consternation continues, and I will put this in caps to make it very clear, because I DO NOT APPRECIATE THE WAY FELLOW FREEPERS ARE BEING TREATED AS PART OF THE GREAT PURGE OF 2007.
***While you’re going on some Thompson & Hunter threads, go on some old rudy threads and see how some socons who were supporting their socon candidate on this socon forum were treated, and you will see for yourself the genesis of this so-called “great purge”. If it’s a purge, then why are there still rudy supporters here at FR? People are being banned for their behavior, not for their support of a particuar candidate. And if their support for a liberal candidate includes all the classic liberal use of fallacious reasoning (like false dilemmas — who would you vote for, rudy or hillary), smear tactics, harrassment, distortion and just plain mean-spiritedness, then I say good riddance to such troublemakers.
Numerous CONSERVATIVE members, who have made it clear as day that they do not support Rudy at all, have also voiced their concerns. Instead of even listening to them, they are instead labeled as Rudy-Bots, mocked, repeatedly sworn at, and basically told to go to hell. Is this something you’re proud of?
***No. But this thread is serving a necessary purpose and if good conservatives don’t like what they see, where were they when socons were getting bashed for supporting socon candidates on this socon forum? JimRob has the right to draw the line somewhere and I perceive it is an emminently fair demarcation.
Regardless, if this is the type of forum you wish to be a part of, then it is I who wishes you the best of luck.
***This is a socon forum and the owner is re-emphasizing its socon roots. Yes, that is the type of forum I wish to be a part of. This forum changed for the worse when a bunch of solibs invaded it and tried to change it into something that matched their distorted vision. JimRob says No to that and I agree.
You’re in the Big Time now. Make the most of it while this forum has any relevance at all...
***Big Time... I see you read the lyrics of that song I posted... “Big Time, so much larger than life... I’ve been stretchin’ my mouth to let those big words come right out... I’m heading out, to the city, the big big city, I’ll be a big noise, with all the big boys......” That song is just too darned funny.
I am a monthly donor here and to the GOP.
There comes a time where the question is, “What matters if you gain the whole world and lose your soul?”
If we let the wrong person in, the US will have lost the soul the founders created for it. Not sure how much I’m willing to work for that.
But I am most willing to work to help prevent that from happening.
As I told RM before, it seems odd to call somebody you are currently politically allied with at this point in the political process, a non ally.
Seems counter productive.
I appreciate that, FreeReign. I feel quite confident that other intelligent FRiends here also understand the meaning of my posts. And yes, counter-productive is the perfect word for what Reagan Man is doing here.
Great tagline, btw.
They'd rather sell our country down the drain before they would give up their principles
Oh and before anyone jumps on me .. I'm not a Rudy supporter either
Though I highly doubt some will pay attention to that part
I hope that most wouldn't feel that way, but these days, who knows. It'll be a sad day when I have to change my tagline to read, "I am not a Rudy supporter", rather than my postive tagline because of the idiocy being spoken by some here.
