Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Enough with the banning already.

Unless someone is provoking a banning, I agree. Let's see how things look once all the smoke from the zotted trolls clears.

Maybe we can just speed up the bug zapper process by just offering them the badge of honor ahead of time, and they can just come & claim it, post their opus & be done.

But I will not break Reagan's 11th commandment.

That's funny, because Ronald Reagan did to the maximum. He ran against an incumbent Republican President of the United States.

Have you all forgotten Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment?

You mean the same Reagan who was the ONLY Republican in modern times to challenge a sitting Republican president for the GOP nomination because he knew that the president was too liberal?

Is there a SINGLE non-liberal who has been banned on this thread?
***I don’t know if he qualifies, but Fierce Allegiance got banned in this time frame, not necessarily on this thread.

Do you want FR's budget to be hit by the departure of these traitors?

Physician heal thyself.

I don't see your screen name posted here:

or here:

Dollar-a-Day Donors to FreeRepublic.com

Unless you've been donating anonymously - and Jim will vouch for it - I'd say that your post/dollar donated ratio is among the lowest among Freepers ever. So, put up or shut up. A Dollar a day for ten years - why don't you write a check for $3,650 bucks or shut up, because I'm sick of reading your incesscent hypocritical drivel.

You got anything bad to say about Giuliani’s long record of opposition to the first [and real] Ten Commandments? Or would that be a violation of your commitment to the mythical Eleventh one?

Not only that, but Rudy has been a serial violator of the 11th commandment himself - to the point of endorsing Cuomo over Pataki in 1994 - and actively courted liberal activist groups such as Handgun Control and NARAL - he was their favorite token pubbie.

So if ANY pubbie has opened himself to dissent from within the party, it's Rudy.

Hey, if they want to make themselves flame bait, it doesn’t bother me. Either way works for me.

It’s like watching a bully provoke everyone else, and when someone finally trounces him, he goes whining about how mean everybody is. Getting beat up will at least get sympathy from his buddies and allow him to get out of the situation and save face.

(They’re gonna love this over at DC, too.... Hi Y’all. Having fun?)

FA was banned before this thread. I don’t think that Jim Robinson was the one who banned him, and unless there was a reason for the ban that we are not aware of, I hope that Jim will reconsider.

I concur with your statements, dirtboy, even about why all the rejoicing is going on.

But I really think it’s gone on long enough. If it continues into next year, it’s going be very destructive. I understand the logic behind the assertion that destruction and cleansing is good, but if what emerges from the ashes is something which is quite different than what this forum was in its glory, I’m not so sure that’s good.

I have said many times that we should all fight for our candidates in the primaries and the months leading up to them. I recommend supporting the most conservative candidate who has a realistic chance to prevail. After that, assuming my candidate didn’t prevail, I choose between the lesser of two evils, and vote for the one who supports at least some of my ideals.

That’s how politics work. Always will. I’m never satisfied, and never will be. But there’s always a new fight coming up in a couple of years where we can try again.

I’m less concerned about the Rudy-bashing, McCain-bashing, Hunter-bashing, etc., than my concern for this forum. We have eaten our own before, but this time we are losing some giants at FR that have been at our side for many years. That can only continue so long before there are no giants left. And we will be the poorer for it, not necessarily financially, but because those folks contributed to the conservative cause at this forum with their minds. We brand them as liberals today, but they wouldn’t have been here on our side for five to ten years if that were truly so.

The question I have is whether we can get past what is happened or whether we want it to continue. I fear it’s the latter.

FA’s banning had nothing to do with any of this, near as I can tell. He simply got a bit intemperate in his remarks, and payed the price.

Typical EV response - doesn't deal with anything substantive in my post.

I think even FA would admit that he could be a bit of a jacka$$ at times (as can most of us).
