Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

Well, let’s look at the whole terrorism thing:

The first bombing of the WTC was in February, 1993. Rudy was elected later that year. Anybody with an ounce of sense knew that the WTC was a terrorist target, but what did Rudy do about it in the nearly eight years he had between taking office and 9/11/01? NOTHING. All he did was put a command center there, which ultimately got in the way. There was no evacuation plan, even though that was an issue in 1993 and ultimately, Rudy bears responsibility for this.

You could always go over to Darwin Central and ask.

Thats gross negligence to not have an evacuation plan after the 1st bombing. He really fumbled the ball.

“The present occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is exhibit #1 of that phenomenon.”

Bush has held the line on some things conservative and not done so well on other things conservative. I defended him on the good things and expressed my disappointment on others (Miers,CFR,borders especially).

I’ll note that when I did dare express my views on this many of those getting zapped now had an en masse attack prepared that was very effective at isolating any who dared to disagree with the President. I think that as much as this is about Giuliani it is about some of the GOP Party regulars who forgot that this was a conservative site. The Giuliani/Party zealots who are really few compared to the overall numbers at this site, really had little respect for conservatism, the owner and the site. I think if the tides of public opinion would be more conservative now, they’d be with us attacking the more liberal and in fact Giuliani himself. Their ideological compass is on “win”, or should I say wind.

In time, FR will have the excess liberal fat trimmed, new members will be coming in girded for battle in 08, and FR as well as conservatism, and indeed the GOP will be stronger for it. That doesn’t mean we win in 08, it is a long uphill battle with an unpopular war saddling Republicans; but the rebuilding of conservatism and the GOP has been kicked off by Jim Robinson.

He really fumbled the ball.

Right, so his entire qualification for being strong in the war on terror is that he showed up at Ground Zero following the attack. However, that was HIS JOB. And to make matters worse, he refused to leave when it became clear that he and his entourage were getting in the way and wasting valuable time and space.

And for that reason, I just made an additional donation to the “Bug Zapper” thread this morning. Let’s make FR a liberal free zone!

re: the Swiftboat Vets episode: THSR - "Who do you think was telling the truth, the Swiftboat Vets, or John Kerry?"

Even though we are not talking about the swiftboating of John Kerry, I still feel as though it’s an ugly, ugly tactic and the people I’ve met who know Duncan Hunter, for example, would not appreciate this. To answer your question, - I think there were parts of each party telling the truth. People take their perceptions and mold them into their versions of the truth. Back then, I bought the book.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I do not agree with your characterization of "swiftboating" as "an ugly, ugly tactic" nor your assertion that "there were parts of each party telling the truth". This issue was dissected exhaustively at the time, and I have never heard of one single claim of the Swiftvets (Neal Boortz said he had found one minor error, but when I looked into it Boortz was the one in error) that was demonstrated to be false, while Kerry was very publicly tripped-up in several lies (remember Christmas in Cambodia?).

If private citizens banding together to expose the truth and correct the record about a public figure who has slandered them has and has and is lying to advance himself is "an ugly, ugly tactic", then words no longer mean anything.

The term "Swiftboating" is an honorable one, not an "ugly" one.

I think that President Bush would have won anyway. He was by far the better (conservative) candidate, whose father has heaped praise on Rudy *(THSR - and Teddy Kennedy, too - let's not forget!), and I’m glad he won.

I'm glad President Bush won, too. I voted for him, twice. But let's be very clear, however. Without the efforts of the Swiftvets Bush would not be President today.

The cruel irony of this is that the Swiftvets did not not make their effort in order to help Bush. They did it to stop Kerry, to expose his lies and correct the historical record, to restore the honor of their fellow veterans who were slandered and libeled by Kerry throughout a thirty-year political career, and most of all, to protect our currently serving military personnel from the threat of Kerry betraying them just as he betrayed the Vietnam vets.

The cruelest irony of all is that President Bush benefited from their efforts while never even acknowledging them, and has failed dismally to match their courage and dedication in defending our troops from the unrelenting onslaught of lies, sabotage and persecution from the Democrats, the MSM, the fifth-columns in the State Department, CIA, etc. and even from within the military bureaucracy and its out-of-control JAG corps.

I hope you will ponder these things, and I wish you well.

Did anybody ever notice what "RadioAstronomer" means? It means "dealing with radio waves received from outside the earth's atmosphere." (Definition straight from the dictionary.)

Isn't that how the Mother Ship gives you your orders?

Is reveling in your ignorance mandatory, voluntary, or just because you don't know what you're doing?

I’ve stated this on other threads and it seems it needs stating here again.

This is April 2007.

The Presidential race...despite the best efforts of the DBM and the Liberal Democratic party...begins in 2008 with the winner taking oath in 2009!

What that means is that we are WAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too damn early to be bickering like this and trying to decide between the “conservatives” and “Republicans” the DBM has decided are our ONLY choices.

Other names are out there that haven’t tossed their hat into the ring...and rightfully so. The early jumpers only openthemselves up to a longer scrutiny and dissection by the partisian hacks of the DBM.

Their hope is that by the time we go into the booth to pull the lever we’ll be so shell shocked from the negative reporting we’ll vote democrat just to make it stop.

This is collectively a very smart bunch here at FR and we need to gather our senses for a moment take a step back and stop the bickering before the race even starts.

It’s playing right into the Libtards hands.

Think for a moment why Rudy and Capt. Queeg...err...John McLame have been shoved down our throats by the DBM.

Besides the fact they are RINO’s...IMHO the DBM believes them to be low hanging fruit...easy targets to smear and slander once the Democrat Party nominee has been decided.

The DBM already has the pieces produced they are just waiting to insert the name and the proper font titles.

Yes Rudy has done some things that are conservative...and so has McCain...but neither has a complete set of goods that will convince me...a Reagan Republican and unrepentant Cold Warrior to vote for them.

And all of you need to take a long hard look at their entire record as well.

If we allow ourselves to overlook the very blatant Liberal Democrat tendencies of both men...theyn we’re in for a repeat of 20006...only this time they’ll get the White House too.

Bottom line...it’s way too early to get herded into standing behind one or the other between McCain and Rudy...the media are trying to herd us like sheep in that direction...but it’s way too early and we are way too smart to fall for it.

I am relying heavily on the fact that no candidate since Wilson has won the Presidency while losing his home state.

As I see it, Rudy will never beat Hillary in NY, and the media will pound that fact in the most effective manner for Hillary if they are the two nominees, which should have a big effect in the other states. My view is not swayed by recent polling at all as I am perfectly comfortable with my hypothesis.

Wait and see, but don’t say I never warned anyone ahead of time.
