Summation of Virginia Tech killer's ties to Islam

The following are ties Cho had to Islam. They are not offered as proof of anything, but merely to prompt consideration or disproof of any links.

Cho’s father lived in Saudi Arabia as a young, single man. His sister works for a State Department contractor which oversees billions of dollars of aid for Iraq. Previously, she worked in Bangkok. (1)

Both of Cho’s plays are about sexual abuse. (2) Bangkok is a city famous for its sex trade, which caters especially to Muslim businessmen.

Cho’s rampage was on Holocaust Remembrance day. Although probably a happenstance, one of the professors he killed was a Jewish holocaust survivor. (3)

Cho used the pseudonym Ismael Ax. Ismael (or, Ismail) is the son of Abraham who became the ancestor of all Arabs, as opposed to Israel who became ancestor of all Jews (4). Although there are many Western references to this person, and many literary characters named “Ishmael,” that spelling is Hebraic. “Ismael” or “Ismail” is uniquely Arabic. Ismaili is also a branch of Shiite Islam (5)

In each play, Cho’s characters rant about the horrible decadence of American life. Targets include McDonalds, the Roman Catholic church, Michael Jackson and the NFL. (2).

Cho is from Fairfax County, Virginia. This is also the home of 1 in 8 Virginians, but it is also the home of Yong Ki Kwon, a 29-year-old graduate of Virginia Tech, who, like Cho, is also from South Korea. Kwon was convicted of terrorism, one of the so-called “paintball Jihadis,” who practiced massacres with paintball guns. (6)

I just looked up an old article on Kwon.

The men were hoping to get weapons training, Kwon later testified, to defend their "brothers and sisters in Afghanistan."
[Washington Post, Sep 3, 2006]
Compare that to Cho's manifesto:
"I didn’t have to do this. I could have left. I could have fled. But no, I will no longer run. It’s not for me. For my children, for my brothers and sisters that you f---, I did it for them,"

And don't forget this important one:

We've never known him to have eaten pork and avoiding pork is an important characteristic of Muslim behavior!

I just want to know the truth. All of it.

Which is not facilitate by bringing up spurious "facts."

"The following are ties Cho had to Islam....."

That is how Dingus started this fantasy, with a statement not a conjecture. He then listed a number of geographic coincidences and references to work done by family members (his sister in Thailand!!! - which is a Buddhist country btw). He has not provided a single tie, or to use your word - link, between Cho and islam....not one.

Join the circle jerk if you like but as another poster wrote, until I see an allah-akbar in Cho's 'multi-media' screed, you guys are whistling out your ear.

I happened to think...this meant what it said.

Results 1 - 10 of about 2,270,000 for "brothers and sisters".

A common phrase, no?

Savage is not so sure about the islam thing in this case. Savage knows considerable about psychiatry, although he may not be up to date with terminology nor with brain science.

Did you not read the post? He specifically said, “They are not offered as proof of anything, but merely to prompt consideration or disproof of any links.”

Is this topic off-limits for some reason?

Why couldn't he throw in Bud Selig or George Steinbrenner for good measure?

“AND - AND - In one of Cho’s video rants - he says he has done this for “his brothers and sisters and children of...” and then the news bleeps it out. His lips looks like he is saying “ISLAM!”

BUT WHY DID THE NEWS BLEEP IT OUT? ALSO, NOW THE NEWS ALSO MAKE FUZZY HIS MOUTH...SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT - WHY ARE THEY WITHHOLDING THIS INFO?????”

++++++++++++++++++++++

Actually he sid he did this “for my children and for my brothers and sisters that you f***.” That’s what was bleeped and fuzzied.

It’s on youtube. Yes it’s still bleeped and fuzzy, but you can make it out by analyzing the context.

I’m just telling you what he said. The guy was clearly delusional and exhibited signs of a messiahnic complex in his rantings.

Exactly. So... logically ...
If she ... weighs the same as a duck ... she’s made of wood.
And therefore?
A witch!

Feel free to substitute “Muslim” for “witch”.

I wish folks would stop stretching thin pieces of information into tomes of assumption! I haven’t seen any proof whatsoever that Cho was anything more than a sad, angry young man who felt like he’d been dumped on by society, and who decided to take it out on as many people as he possibly could. He knew that he could do this on a college campus, because there would be no one with a weapon to stop him, except himself. It was a crime of hatred and opportunity, nothing else.

We must also start considering the ties between radical Islam and mental illness.

Islam gives misanthropes a license to kill.

one thing for sure: Muslims don’t believe Jesus was actually crucified; and I don’t think they’d refer to him as Jesus *Christ*.

In his videos, Cho often compares his death/”martyrdom” to Christ’s crucifixion.
