my kids are college aged and they are communicating with their friends at VA Tech and he said he was told it was “about a girl”.....don’t know if there is any truth to that before everyone speculates about terror.

I’d kind of agree with that policy of no weapons - at least for students.

Admin and staff and faculty should be allowed to have them, though.

Counseling is available in the Bowman Room in the Merriman Center (part of the athletic complex) for employees who seek assistance following today’s events.

Faculty and staff on the Burruss Hall side of the Drillfield are asked to go home effective immediately. Faculty and staff on the War Memorial Hall side of the Drillfield are asked to leave at 12:30 p.m.

Virginia Tech has closed today and classes are canceled. Classes also are canceled Tuesday, but the university will remain open for administrative operations.
