Shoedog,
Do you always bring out your weakest examples to try to win an arguement?
We’re not talking about minors. Most college kids are legally adults and we’re not talking about being in a confined space with unique pressurization due to the altitude.
Get with it or get gone, ShoeDog.
That’s what I thought. He is from the area and the age certainly appears fake.
Are college and graduate students and, for that matter, faculty less responsible than members of the general public who qualify for CCW? If they were to enlist in one of the “armed” services, would you apply the same criteria to restrict the arms they’re allowed to use?
Two hand guns take time to reload several times in order to take out this many people. Somebody would have jumped him. The audio playing on Fox sounds like more shots in rapid succession to be hand guns. He must have been a really good shot and made every bullet count.
Roanoke station. Copy and past link.
Ping to post #1100
Prayers for all involved.
Not at all. Two bomb threats at that school, this month alone, and the most recent was 72 hours ago. The FBI had to know something was about to go down.
“The definition of terrorism would be based on motive rather than religion.”
Terrorism is typically to achieve some political goal or objective. Yet to be seen (but may, in fact, be the case). This is similar in nature to Columbine which was certainly not political.
I may have fueled the fire on this with an earlier post. My point was, conceal and carry would not necessarily kept this from happening, now would have those who wanted stricter gun laws!
I believe people have the 2nd amendment right and I am fine with conceal and carry!
I also have no problems (like with the story posted) that the asst principal who had a gun in his car and went and got it.
What I had said that while many things are legal, I have real problems thinking that students carrying guns into their classes. I am not saying that my stance is right, it is just my thoughts on the subject!
But it fits the MO of all of these "freelance" jihadis, like the Washington snipers.
Forgive my ignorance on guns - but could you tell us how 2 - 9mm handguns would work in this case. How many shots can each gun fire - did he have to reload a few times - is that something that is really easy to do? Thanks for any reply.
Its the random idiots who would carry his/her gun to class bnecause he/she LOVE GUNS. Dont act like those people dont exist and arent plentiful.
So what? If they can legally own a gun, meaning they are NOT A CRIMINAL, why can't they carry it to protect themselves and people like you?
Should we be able to carry guns into stadiums too?
Why not? Criminals or terrorists sure will. As long as the carriers obey the law (no alcohol etc.) this is not a problem.
Im not an advocate of gun-conrol
YES, you most certainly ARE! Your statements, both above and below, confirm it beyond any shadow of a doubt. Thinking like yours helps bring about events like Columbine, 9/11, and today's tragedy.
but I dont think the solution to this problem is to allow students to take guns into classrooms. Faculty? Sure. I know way too many people who I wouldnt want carrying a gun on campus.
A RIGHT is for everyone, not just a chosen few or "the ones you want." Gun control is gun control.
Roanoke has a FBI area office, and Southwest Virginia is literally crawling with agents because of various federal investigations under way there (it’s a really crooked region). Therefore, it would have been relatively easy for the FBI to get to the campus very quickly once the shooting started.
That was my point earlier. This guy had proficiency with weapons. He was able to shoot so many with such effect in a short period of time, and reload. That takes practice to do it quickly.
Curious.
seriously ditto that....no Todd Bemer moment ? no Let’s Roll ?....damn odd to me based on the sheer # of bullets fired.............will await the details and pray
Derrick O’Dell is the name of the student who called into MSNBC. His interview was aired a second time. O’Dell is a sophomore majoring in biochemistry.
He was in his class on the second floor of Norris Hall. The shooter shot 10 to 15 people in O’Dell classroom. The professor was shot. O’Dell described the shooter as a college aged, Asian male who was wearing a maroon cap and a black leather jacket. O’Dell said the victims were randomly shot. They barricaded the door so the shooter could not get into the classroom. They then waited until police cleared the building and they ran to the waiting ambulances.
I recall reading something on this form (Its source was Police One) about a hypethetical situation similar to this. It encouraged concealed carry by students (if they were in college) and the teachers to carry as well.
The problem is that 32 people died today, and many of those deaths could have been prevented by civilian CCW and proper police tactics. My prayers for all the families affected, the wounded, and the dead.
