Even if the battery goes dead, any blanket in the car could be a lifesaver or at very least a life prolonger. I can identify with "dirt poor." Been there - done that in my lifetime and I believe it gives one the skills needed to be a true survivor. We have one in each car and one cost us $10.00 and the other cost $20.00. We found one on a clearance pile at JC Penneys and the other at a national chain called Liquidation World (it was brand new stock from Discovery World). Bargains are my "thing," especially USEABLE and needed bargains.
Asking prayers for my sister and her daughter. Her daugher's home caught fire this AM and her granddaughter was killed as a result of smoke inhalation. Their home is completely lost (it was a very old home and cause of fire may be faulty wiring or a faulty space heater). My sister and her daughter need all the prayers you can muster. Thank you all in advance for your assistance in this request.
Wow.
Certainlyy
THAnks.
I got to talk to Crabbie today and she sure sounded good, despite having undergone chemo today. Boy did I choose a bad day to call her (but she's sooooo understanding and nice). We too had a great talk. I'm very thankful for my TM family here.
Take care of yourself, ExSoldier.
We've been praying for you.
I will pray for your sister and her daughter MamaDearest.
This is very sad news, indeed.
Note: I am going to be posting on TM several posts regarding chemical spills.
FYI.
Thank you! Truly very much appreciated.

"Fire Chief Wants Answers: Why Didn't Chemical Company Notify Dept. About Spill?"
Steve Miller Reporting
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(WBBM) -- A fire chief in the southwest suburbs has some questions for a neighboring chemical company: Specifically, why wasn't anybody notified sooner about a chemical spill which sent at least a number of people to the hospital last night.
As WBBM Steve Miller reports, some smell from the chemical lingered in the air - almost 12 hours after the spill.
That leak sent at least six workers to the hospital from a UPS facility in Hodgkins.
The chemical was ethyl acrylate, which is used in making plastics.
The fire chief in the area, Dan Hermes, says he has some concerns.
Specifically - that Ashland Chemical - the apparent source of the spill - waited - or perhaps didn't notify anyone at all - that a spill had taken place.
"There was some sort of time delay. The spill had taken place and nobody at Ashland Chemical contacted Willow Springs or UPS or the Pleasantview Fire Department that a spill had taken place."
Chief Hermes says a quick notification should have been made.
A spokesman for Ashland chemical, James Vitak, says the company regrets that the incident occurred and he apologized.
Vitak says a fork lift punctured a 55-gallon drum of ethyl acrylate."

Evacuees find overnight lodging
As night fell, a stream of evacuees trickled into the Church of the Nazarene on Broadway Drive, giving up hope theyd be able to return to their homes Thursday night.
Dozens of Forrest County residents were displaced by a Thursday morning chemical spill caused by a train derailment along U.S. 98 near Ralston Road.
Two southbound Kansas City Southern rail cars ruptured, releasing unknown quantities of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide. Both chemicals are toxic; exposure can cause moderate to serious injuries like burns, ulceration and scarring. Thursday night, first responders still were working to contain the spill and neutralize chemicals released into the environment.

The Church of the Nazarene served as the Red Cross temporary shelter but wasnt equipped to house evacuees overnight. The organization placed more than 45 families in area hotel rooms Thursday night, said Red Cross volunteer Mary Newsome on Kansas City Southerns dime.

"Chemical Spill In Novato Prompts Shelter Warning"
(CBS 5 / BCN) NOVATO
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Police discovered three separate gallon containers of hydrochloric acid - often referred to as muriatic acid - that were emptied on one-block sections of Tinker Way, Mather Court and Randolph Drive, all of which are connected to Bolling Circle, Collins said.
Shelter-in-place warnings were only enacted on the affected streets, according to Collins.
Police received a call from a resident of Tinker Way at around 12:13 a.m. today reporting a possible vandalism incident in the area, Collins said. Responding officers found that someone had emptied a gallon of the acid on the porch of a house on Tinker Way. The two other spills were located soon after.
"It appears that the chemicals were taken from a pool truck that was parked on Bolling Circle," Collins said. "Hazardous Materials crews are working to neutralize the spill with a cleanup solution."
No injuries were reported. The shelter-in-place warnings were lifted at 6:00am."

"Wired Gas Tank And Threatening Note Thrown At Home"
SLIDESHOW: Bomb Squad Investigates Suspicious Device
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "South Jordan Police Lt. Dan Starks told 2News the object was thrown at the home around 10 p.m. Monday night.
Someone launched a full-sized propane tank, like youd use with your barbeque, at a residence in South Jordan, Lt. Starks said.
The tank hit a window, breaking the glass but did not enter the home.
At around 6:15 Tuesday morning, the homeowner noticed the object laying in his front yard. The authorities were then notified, prompting an evacuation of nearby homes.
A note was attached to the device, as well as a mechanism that appeared to be a timer or clock, according to Lt. Starks.
Investigators believe that whoever threw the tank at the home was targeting someone inside.
Authorities have not made public the contents of the note but say it was possibly directed toward a teenage boy living at the home. A message was also found on the device.
On the actual propane tank itself, there was some unfriendly writing, Starks said.
Crews detonated the device with a water gun. A bomb-sniffing dog also walked through the area before neighbors were allowed to return to their homes."
I'm very encouraged knowing Jim is doing better and talking to Crabbie cheered me up.
Yes, praying for ExSoldier and crabbie and they better be in bed resting.
(Just say, "Yes, Mother.")
You rest well MamaDearest.
It has been a long day today.
