"Wired Gas Tank And Threatening Note Thrown At Home"
SLIDESHOW: Bomb Squad Investigates Suspicious Device
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "South Jordan Police Lt. Dan Starks told 2News the object was thrown at the home around 10 p.m. Monday night.
Someone launched a full-sized propane tank, like youd use with your barbeque, at a residence in South Jordan, Lt. Starks said.
The tank hit a window, breaking the glass but did not enter the home.
At around 6:15 Tuesday morning, the homeowner noticed the object laying in his front yard. The authorities were then notified, prompting an evacuation of nearby homes.
A note was attached to the device, as well as a mechanism that appeared to be a timer or clock, according to Lt. Starks.
Investigators believe that whoever threw the tank at the home was targeting someone inside.
Authorities have not made public the contents of the note but say it was possibly directed toward a teenage boy living at the home. A message was also found on the device.
On the actual propane tank itself, there was some unfriendly writing, Starks said.
Crews detonated the device with a water gun. A bomb-sniffing dog also walked through the area before neighbors were allowed to return to their homes."
