Japan Tried To Build "Ontological Bomb"
The Asahi Chinbun ^ | 2007.04.01 | Tsukino Uso
Posted on 04/01/2007 2:34:07 PM PDT by B-Chan
According to a classified NATO report, the Japanese military and government security apparatus attempted to create an "ultimate weapon" in 2001.
The NATO document, entitled "Theopotential Technology Development in Japan: An Intelligence Assessment", was discovered among a group of documents released to Samui Ochanomizu, a newspaper researcher seeking information on the August, 1998 overflight of Japan by a North Korean ballistic missile test. According to the document, reaction to the overflight created a tremendous stir within Japan's defense establishment, prompting the creation of a research project designed to create the "ultimate weapon". This research led to the initiation of a program called WINDHOUSE, which according to the document made use of "theopotential" technology to create a weapon of godlike power. Based upon the sketchy details given, analysts reading the document surmise that the WINDHOUSE weapon was an ontological bomb a device capable of essentially rewriting the source code of the physical universe itself, enabling its user to blot out time and space in a given area at will. Purt simply, the WINDHOUSE weapon could simply make anoyone or anything "not be". (Ontology is the study of being.)

Australian gets 20 years for terror plot
Associated Press, Aug. 23, 2006
An Australian man convicted on terrorist charges for trying to buy bomb-making materials and purchasing maps of the country's power grid was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison.
Faheem Khalid Lodhi, 36, a Pakistan-born architect, was convicted by a New South Wales Supreme Court jury in June on three charges of plotting a terrorist attack in Australia.
Lodhi's was one of the first cases launched under tough and controversial anti-terror laws passed in Australia in response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States.
The judge on Wednesday sentenced Lodhi to 20 years in prison on the charge of making inquiries about buying chemicals that could be used to make explosives. He was sentenced to 10 years each on charges of buying the maps and having an Urdu-language manual outlining terrorist techniques.
The sentences were to be served concurrently, and were backdated to the time of his arrest in 2004. He will be eligible for parole in 2019.

Russia Launches Energy Project In Syria
NICOSIA [MENL]
Russia has launched crude oil and natural gas production projects in Syria.
Syrian officials said Russian energy majors have advanced energy projects throughout Syria as part of expanding bilateral cooperation. Syrian Oil Minister Sufian Alou said Russia's Stroitransgaz, with a major presence since 2005, has become a leading contractor in Syria.
Alou said Stroitransgaz was constructing a 320-kilometer natural gas pipeline from Jordan to Syria in a $160 million project. He said the project, meant to transport Egyptian gas, began in April 2006 and would be completed by February 2008.
Russia has also been building a gas treatment factory in southern Syria. Alou said the $190 million project would produce six million cubic meters of gas per day.

Protest in Iran targets British Embassy
By Nasser Karimi for Associated Press:
TEHRAN, Iran - About 200 students threw rocks and firecrackers at the British Embassy on Sunday, calling for the expulsion of the country's ambassador because of the standoff over Iran's capture of 15 British sailors and marines.
Class trip: a 1979 re-enactment!
Several dozen policemen prevented the protesters from entering the embassy compound, although a few briefly scaled a fence outside the compound's walls before being pushed back, according to an Associated Press reporter at the scene.
The protesters chanted "Death to Britain" and "Death to America" as they hurled stones into the courtyard of the embassy. They also demanded that the Iranian government expel the British ambassador and close down the embassy, calling it a "den of spies."
Britain's Foreign Office said there had been no damage to the compound.
A British Foreign Office spokeswoman in London, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with government rules, said diplomats were working normally inside the embassy.
"There is a police presence outside and there is no risk to those inside," said the spokeswoman.

Sweden to extradite Moroccan terror suspect to Germany
29th March 2007 22:30 CET
Sweden will extradite a Moroccan man suspected of plotting terrorist attacks to Germany, where a European warrant had been issued for his arrest, Swedish officials said on Thursday.
German justice officials had ordered 24 year-old Abdelali Miftah remanded in custody in absentia, "as part of an inquiry in Germany on terrorist crimes," prosecutor Ronnie Jacobsson told AFP.
He said Miftah is suspected of participating in preparations to commit terrorist attacks but gave no further details.
Miftah was arrested in Sweden several weeks ago because he had no residency permit but was released. On Monday, after receiving the German warrant, Swedish police arrested him again. On Thursday, he was remanded in custody.
Jacobsson said Morocco had also issued a warrant for Miftah's arrest, but this was not sufficient for authorities in Sweden to act.
Miftah can appeal his extradition to Germany.
According to Swedish news agency TT, Swedish authorities also decided Wednesday to remand in custody and extradite a Jordanian man to Germany.
He is suspected of having links to Miftah and a third person detained in Germany.
