A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. Good morning, Noosie. I'm having a terrible time with FR this morning - don't know if it's just on my end, but it's taking forever and a day to open anything. As small as the opening post is on WFW, it just sat there and sat there and sat there without fully opening so I could "post" it. :(

Claiming Responsibility

He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities. —Isaiah 53:5

As images of burning rubble and frantic people flash on the TV screen, a reporter says, “A terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for last night’s bombing that left 23 dead and scores injured.” It was not a random act of violence but one that was calculated to frighten people and advance the agenda of those who stepped forward to say, “We did it.”

In stark contrast, one of history’s most brutal acts was intended to bring peace and healing, not fear. In addition, God claimed responsibility in the prophecy of Isaiah, seven centuries before it happened. The prophet foretold the death of the Messiah in these words: “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. . . . Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief” (Isa. 53:5,10).

Just before Jesus Christ was crucified, He said, “No one takes [My life] from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. . . . This command I have received from My Father” (John 10:18). Jesus died willingly for our sin so that we might live through faith in Him.

God claimed responsibility for the death of His Son, allowing anyone to claim His gift of forgiveness.

When Jesus died upon the cross
He took our sin and shame;
He offers us His righteousness,
A gift that we must claim.  —Sper

The search for forgiveness ends when we find Christ.

The House is feeling
kind of cold. Up on the Chair
we layer and fold

Stretched or twisted or
cozily curled. A Collage
of textures unfurled

Warm in the middle
and the back. The front's prepared
in case of attack!

Fur rises and falls
as we nuzzle tight. No one
wants to scratch or fight

Green eyes slowly close
as purrs abound. Creating
a soft, lulling sound

Plush arms on shoulders
Soft ears cuddle chins. As warmth
is shared from within

Each Cat has its own
preferred spot. We trade sometimes,
but most often, not

Seeking comfort where
we may. The only day more
fun is Laundry Day!

A warm sunny beach sounds so inviting..

I just looked up the 10 day forecast and Friday is the only day the sun may peek through..My electric bill will go up as I will be turning on a lot of lights. It's 40 and not bone chilling because there is no wind..
The squirrels and a titmouse.brighten up my view.
