We hear all sorts of solutions for ending illegal immigration. Build a wall! Beef up border security! Fine employers, and create a massive guest-worker program. Or America could insist on tamper-proof identification cards, or detention, deportation or even amnesty for some illegal aliens -- or all of these measures somehow combined.

But ultimately the solution lies in the hope that a Tijuana might become as prosperous as a San Diego -- now a few miles away but a world apart...

Pretty dire outlook. he's saying we're gonna have to wait until messico catches up.
That's a highly unlikely prospect....and hardly not one to wait for.
Even his carrot and stick approach relies on a politician this side of the border with some gonads.... again, no sign of that here.....

Of course, the other alternative is to drag San Diego down to the level of Tijuana. Illegal Immigration + Universal Health Care (which everyone seems to be embracing) will bankrupt us.

When there are enough illegals to wield the political power sufficient to declare themselves 'legal', and to open the borders to the world. Let's just hope there are enough people in America who are working to feed, clothe, house and provide health care and educations to everyone in the world who wants it. That's where the liberal mentality on illegal immigration will ultimately take us.

Of course, the upcoming NA Union will do that for us, for all intents and purposes. They'll even throw in Canada, to boot!

I understand why they want to come here and I don't blame them for that. But, really the betterment of Mexico should be their problem. They get plenty of drug money they could be using to improve their infrastructure.

Build the wall.

Severely fine the employers.

Deport the ones that are here.

Most importantly, the Mexican bureaucracy must end endemic corruption that so exasperates foreign investors who would otherwise bring to Mexico efficient job-producing businesses.

The Democrats will continue to look the other way in the name of tolerance and multiculturalism. The Republicans will wring their hands and offer different solutions to their base without meaning a word of it because their corporate masters like the cheap labor and keep the Reps on a short leash.
