It is inevitable. Some prominent American will want to be the first on his block to pronounce the shahada and become an official worshipper of mohammed. The publicity will be too delicious, and the ego-augmentation unmatched.
The desire to associate such a successful assassin, murderer, rapist, misogynist, slave-holder and all-around in-your-facer with The One True God, is nothing compared to the lure of a celebro-american associating himself with the mosque of what's happening now.
Cynthia McKinney and John Conyers do not count. Neither does Noam Chomsky. The CNN-worthy frisson of "reversion" has to be present for this prediction to be meaningful. No one will be impressed if a dull bear defecates in the woods.
My guess is between two folks: Jane Fonda and Pat Buchanan.
And my vote goes to Pat. Although I think Jane would be mightily tempted, even if it meant a burka, in the end I think Pat's special ego would win the day.

Not to your post, specifically, but as a general reply to the thread and topic: In the interest of fairness and truth, Muslim don't worship Mohammed. They worship God, whose name is rendered in Arabic as Allah. Muslims revere Mohammed as a prophet, in the same way the Jews revere Moses and Christians revere the 12 Apostles.
It's important to accurately describe differences if intelligent people are to arrive at understanding and tolerance. Muslims don't worship Mohammed any more than a Mormon worships Joseph Smith. Prophets are regared as messengers and servants of God. A prophet's message is never "worship me" but "worship God who sent me."
I think the big question is who is going to be the first post-9/11 high profile conversion.
The person should preferably not be black, unless its somebody who has broad appeal outside of the black community, such as Oprah. That is, people like Nutty McKinney and her ilk don't count. Even Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would basically be doing a "black thing," since Afro-Americans seem to conveniently forget that Muslims were and are the biggest slave traders in the world and have nothing but contempt for Africans. Among many blacks, conversion to Islam is seen as somehow dissing the white man. I suspect this is the source of most black "conversions."
To really make a splash, it would have to be either a currently hot movie star or a high profile politician. Hmmmm...
