I think the big question is who is going to be the first post-9/11 high profile conversion.

The person should preferably not be black, unless its somebody who has broad appeal outside of the black community, such as Oprah. That is, people like Nutty McKinney and her ilk don't count. Even Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would basically be doing a "black thing," since Afro-Americans seem to conveniently forget that Muslims were and are the biggest slave traders in the world and have nothing but contempt for Africans. Among many blacks, conversion to Islam is seen as somehow dissing the white man. I suspect this is the source of most black "conversions."

To really make a splash, it would have to be either a currently hot movie star or a high profile politician. Hmmmm...

Right and I was guessing it will be someone who is fading a bit. I certainly agree that someone who is black might not count as joining something like the Nation of Islam is not quite the same a white star joining mainstream Islam.

BTW, as I recall some minor upper class Briton has converted?
