A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.

Am I getting bad at math or was that 43 years ago?
Anyway, I remember clear as a bell. I was in high school and we were told there was an Assembly... unplanned ... my "play brother" John, standing at the door to the assembly hall told me as I walked in, "Kennedy got shot!"

does anyone here remember were they were 44 years ago today? (Nov. 22) I was in Navy Boot Camp. We had just finished eating lunch in the Mess Hall, gathered outside in formation to march to our next class.
Our Company Commander walked up to our Company and announced that the President had been shot in Dallas. Never forget his words... "I think the man is dead."
All remaining classes that day were cancelled. Keep in mind, in boot camp we had no television, no radio, newspapers only available on Sundays. Our CC brought in a radio and we were able to get information from radio news. On Sunday, every newspaper available was purchased and passed around to anyone who was interested in reading the info.
