Best Buy Bans Use of Merry Christmas In Advertising
Forbes.com ^ | 11/11/06 | By ANNE D'INNOCENZIO

Best Buy has announced they will be using "Happy Holidays" this coming Christmas shopping season, and they will not be using "Merry Christmas."

Dawn Bryant, a spokeswoman at Best Buy Co. Inc., says their advertising will not be using the term "Merry Christmas." "We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," Bryant said. Well, Dawn, if BB depended on those "several (other) holidays" to meet their sales goals by year end, they would have been out of business years ago.

Mine:

Ms. Bryant,

I wanted to wish you and your fellow employees a Merry Christmas now since I won't have an opportunity to do so in person. After spending thousands of dollars on TV boxed sets and other DVDs at your store, I will be parting ways with your company for good as of now. I am curious as to why you are only to be closed on December 25 this year, however. You should consider closing your stores from December 16 to December 23, since that is the time of Hanukah, and from December 26 to January 1, since that is the time of Kwanzaa. Failing to do so might be seen as favoring Christians, which could deeply offend . . . dozens.

Merry Christmas!

I have a Best Buy Golf Shirt that I bought new at the flea market for just two bucks. Actually I bought a whole bunch of those Best Buy Golf shirts for just a couple bucks each including several in size 5X which I sold on eBay. Excellent quality. I liked them so much that I kept an XL Best Buy Golf Shirt for myself. BTW, I had a Best Buy manager contact me and inquired how I was able to sell them so cheap.

"Tt is time to take back Christmas and we need support. We cannot afford to give another inch to the secular movement in this Country. Help us thwart the imminent abolition of Christmas. We need to stand together as one, and make it perfectly clear that enough is enough. Its Christmas!

"Furthermore, we want Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and Happy Kwanzaa restored in the malls and stores that would have our money. Lets not forget that all December traditions have been removed from most malls and stores."

Say no to the "Holidays" and yes to Christmas (and Hanukkah too I believe)...from the folks at Communists for Kerry:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1536593/posts

>>Communists for Kerry (and no, I don't mean Code Pink), a conservative satire group/site, is launching some "for conservatives, by conservatives" T-shirts celebrating the use of "Christmas" over "holidays". One has Jesus saying "It's my Birthday--Don't Let The Commies Ruin It!". Also "When A Christmas Tree Falls in the Forest And Lands On An ACLU Lawyer, Does Anyone Care"?

BEST BUY chose to refuse to accept my e-mail. That makes it unanimous, for I refuse to ever shop a BEST BUY.
