We do indeed live in interesting times
Judgement Day '06 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 11/07/2006 11:45:49 PM PST by Jim Robinson

We do indeed live in interesting times.

I believe our resolve is about to be tested like it's never been tested before and I pray we're up for it.

The Democrats and the leftist media see this election as a mandate against the president and the war. They are about to pull out all the stops in their mission to totally demoralize the American people. If they succeed to the point we pull out of Iraq before the Iraqis are strong enough to defend themselves, I'm afraid it'll be the Killing Fields all over again. Only this time much much worse and much closer to home.

Praying we have the national resolve to resist the enemy within. Praying we maintain the will to continue the fight against the global jihadists. Our very right to survive as a nation and a free people depends on it.

Our president and our troops are going to need our prayers and support now more than ever.

God willing, America will survive!

The terrorists will keep on doing what they've been doing either way.

So we'll see, but I'm not sweating this stuff at all. Just another day.

I figured there were a few other like minded freepers out there. Having said that, I am probably sweating just a bit more than you :) I certainly would have preferred another outcome, but these Democrats are going to find the going much rougher than Newt's Republicans.

Good Morning, Jim. You are spot on. The one thing going through my mind this morning was that the media and the Socialists are making this the Viet Nam Endgame all over again. Defund, betray and cut and run.

Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

No worries Jim. I'm pretty sharp, even first thing in the AM. I don't need no stinkin' sarcasm tags. I'm just saying screw the terrorists. Seems to me they stick to their game plan no matter who's running our show.

"Praying we have the national resolve to resist the enemy within."

Thank you Jim for all of the hard work you have done in the service of your country.

I mean, it's bound to happen sooner or later, no? I guess it's the stoic in me. You focus on what you can control, and you don't sweat what you can't control. I really don't care about the outcome. It's not in my control. And it doesn't change anything that I am doing in my life. Nothing in politics can change me or get me off my horse. No way, no how.

Republicans have squandered their position, power, money and good will by allowing those of non ideological conservative soundness as the face and soul of the party and it's sailing master; choosing the direction the party was to go. The conservative base was shunned and the condensed syrup of ideas allow to melt away into the greater blend of wishy washy efforts.

Clear strong issues were shunted aside by ideological and morally weak people who very prescense in the Republican party had not been vetted for basic honesty and clarity, no less moral strength. No saints are readily available to be sure, but the collection of simple thieves, poofters, footpads and blackguards fielded was shameful.

Now a full purge is needed and the selection of "clean" candidates sound in mind, body and thought is needed, with each and every one undergoing an inquiry that will make opposition research prior to election day an afterthought.

Our politicians need to be in the mold of Ceasar's Wife.
Each vetted completely so that the mere phrase Republican Candidate must hold the connotation of total honesty and uprightness.

They dare not risk their gains on kookdom.

Yeah, but they ARE kooks and don't really have a choice. Hardwired. They'll be emboldened to get even kookier.

True, but after yesterday, I don't think this country has a will to fight anything anymore. If Americans can't handle Iraq, they sure won't be able to handle any other means of defense.I guess Freedom Is Free, until it disappears. Like a big sucking sound. Phwet. The big battle is yet to come and America has now shown the world its resolve.

You're right. We should blame ourselves. Kind of like when the liberals blame America for the terrorists attack on 9/11?

THis goes far beyond the war in Iraq. The Cut'n'Run crowd and the "Lesson Teachers" have delivered thier message and it has been heard loud and clear. and they have said:
AMERICA - We want a more liberal government, moderates you are now free to move to the left, we want higher taxes, we want judges who will never repeal Roe v Wade, we want judges who will completely remove god from the country, we want a weak military, we want socialist programs, WE WANT ANOTHER TERRORIST ATTACK and we want HILLARY CLINTON to be the next President."

Yep, be careful what you ask for BECAUSE YOU JUST GOT IT!!!!!!

The best we can now hope for is John McCain, Rudy Guiliani or Mitt Romney as President. WHy do I say that -- BEcause when the Terrorists attack us again (probably within the next 6 months), IT WILL BE BLAMED ON THE PRESIDENT. When the economy tanks in the year or so, IT WILL BE BLAMED ON THE PRESIDENT. When taxes go up and gas hits $3, IT WILL BE BLAMED ON THE PRESIDENT.

And as a result, more Democrats , and HILLARY THE BITCH QUEEN will be elected in 2008.

We'll see. Seems to me power/authority moderates ppl. Look at the Clinton years. Hell, look at how much the GOP faithful have been willing to stomach from our leaders just to maintain power. The stupid RX bill, education bill, etc etc. If we were out of power, whoever advanced that crap would be run out on a rail. But when you have something to protect, it gives you an incentive to compromise and choose your battles. So we said, think about the SCOTUS, or think about the war, and ate the rest. Maybe I am wrong, but the DEMs will have to do the same. Yes, they are kooks, and yes, they have a kook fringe to contend with, but I don't think it'll be total lunacy. Call me an optimist I guess.

I'm sure President Bush has already been on the phone to the Iraqi Prime Minister to tell him the clock is ticking, guys, get it together.

We'll survive this, without gnashing of teeth or Prozac. We're made of stronger stuff than that.

I don't think it was to maintain power as much as it was to keep the liberals OUT of power. At least it was for me. Well, that and the war and also I had high hopes for at least one more successful SCOTUS pick. I was willing to stomach almost anything to make it 5 to 4 in our favor. No telling how much unconstitutional socialist crap we could've rolled back with a majority of constitutionalists on the court... regardless of which party put it in.

Very well stated Jim.

Our choice is clear - We can either whimper and whine about our losses and engage in endless finger pointing and back biting, which is the course of true defeat

Or we can start now to take our country back from not only the RATs, but also their minions in the media by working our butts off. A daunting task to be sure, but one we must succeed in.

Since I never considered myself a quitter before, I sure as hell am not about to start now.

MSM and the democrats proved too hard to beat. 365 day 24/7 pounding of POTUS and Iraq took its toll.

Agree to a point. But there was more to it than just MSM. The things the MSM brought up are now being to a point admitted to by the administration. And the administration not only has not managed the war in an effective way, they haven't done a good job with PR.

The MSM was a factor. The republican party was just as complicit if not more.

I don't expect impeachment, they know that is suicide given there is little for them to use to back it up...

However, I do believe they will not make permanent the tax cuts, they will pursue nationalized health-care, they will attempt to force Bush's hand to bring the troops home before Iraq is ready to take the reins. Lastly, they will attempt to sabotage Bush at every step in hopes of capturing the Whitehorse in 2008.

The greatest of these issues I believe is Iraq...handing Iraq over to Al Queda and Iran will only embolden them in the region....it will only be a matter of time before Lebanon and Afghanistan fall away as well.

By the time the electorate wakes up and realizes how important Iraq was to the WOT we will have lost a great deal. Yes, the argument can be made it wasn't before the invasion, but there is no doubt it is now.

This election serves notice to all of our allies in the region that we, as a nation, are not comitted to seeing the struggle through, it will have a huge impact on how much cooperation we get from "friendly governments" in the region. In addition, it certainly will impact our troops in the field when it comes to the cooperation they receive from the citizenry of Iraq and Afghanistan....thier mission has just become that much more dangerous...

I'm not optimistic this morning, I feel the same gloom I felt when Carter won...fortunately we were rescued by Reagan after four years of hell....

Unfortunately, I do not see a new Reagan on the horizon, and today the stakes are so much higher...
