A Return to Triangulation (libertarion vs social right)
National Review Online ^ | 10/25/06 | David Boaz & David Kirby

As the Republican base fragments and Christian conservatives consider a “fast” from politics, the polling data point to a mid-term Republican thumping. Less than two weeks from now, Republicans will begin their post-mortem soul searching. And as the corpses of their House and Senate majorities grow cold, so should Karl Rove’s 2006 campaign strategy.

But since there are no 'fossils' of these, harrumph, bodies, then poor ol' Science cannot evaluate them, so it'll just have to ignore them.

That seems to be a rule around here now.

If not exactly a RULE,
it's still the good way to bet!

Did you ever let go of a helium balloon?

A hot air balloon?

A kite in the wind?

I have left instructions, if I die before The Rapture
to have a card board cutout of me buried with me

So, the difference is this, you have religious fervor, I have a fervor or thirst for knowledge.

Knowledge is good!
But Wisdom is better.

NIV Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

NIV Proverbs 3:13-14
 13.  Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding,
 14.  for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.

NIV Proverbs 8:12
"I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.

NIV Proverbs 19:8
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers.

NIV Proverbs 2:6
For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

NIV Proverbs 4:5
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them.

NIV 2 Chronicles 1:9-10
  9.  Now, LORD God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth.
 10.  Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?"

NIV Job 28:28
And he said to man, `The fear of the Lord--that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.'"

The desire for Wisdom has been around a LOoooong time... ;^)

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Then there is the opposite:

NIV Proverbs 30:3
I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One.

Actually, we're just trying to prevent it from "evolving."

Wait. So you two are under the impression that no arm of science studies and deal with the human body? Oooooooooookaaaaaaaaaay. You guys need to hang out with editor-surveyor more often; he who believe all of modern medicine is a sham and no surgery has ever saved a life.

So when the helium or heat are gone, then what? What happens when the wind stops blowing? When the mechanical forces temporarily overcoming gravitational acceleration stop, the stuff falls again. It doesn't keep going up. The gravitational pull is still there.

How did you ever read THAT into the previous statement? Elsie never said that there was no branch of science that could evaluate the human body. He said that there were no fossil remains of the bodies to be evaluated.

So was he saying that there are no fossils of "souls" and therefore we don't study them?

Curious. What's a soul?

"When the helium.... [is] gone.."

Where? Down?

These were simple and rather superficial examples to point out the limitations of your examples. I'd suggest that you not talk to a physicist about the gravitational theory you think is so clear and obvious.

WKB: Post 1257 Phil. 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Elsie: Post 1261 Elsie:But since there are no 'fossils' of these, harrumph, bodies, then poor ol' Science cannot evaluate them, so it'll just have to ignore them.

While I can't read Elsie's mind, it seems obvious to me that he was referring to fossil remains of the bodies conformed to the the glorious one like Christs, which said fossils wouldn't/couldn't exist. I guess we'll have to wait until Elsie shows up again to clarify.

Unless, of course, JR was not speaking "tongue-in-cheek" but was instead being perfectly serious. That is the only explanation for his banning that makes sense.

There is also the idea that right after the proprietor of FR told people to stop flaming or baiting Biblical literalists, it was done practically right afterwards. That's the equivalent of snapping your fingers right under his nose: no *wonder* he got cheesed off.

Given that
a) a number of people on DC have joked on DC explicitly about yanking YEC people's chains, or bragged/joked about just having done so (some of them even before the thread earlier this week)
b) the bent on DC (speaky admittedly broad-brush) is more libertarian, and seems to *like* tweaking authority
the conduct is understandable...

but that doesn't mean it showed a good sense of *timing*.

Cheers!

Bouancy or aerodynamics overcoming gravitational acceleration does not means the gravity ceases to eisit. It's still there.
