Deliver a Spanking
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | October 22, 2006 | Colin McNickle

Posted on 10/22/2006 8:49:20 AM PDT by Conservative Goddess

I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...

I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:

A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.

....

...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?

....

Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.

Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...

It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

Do the right thing and leave the results to God.

I just can't see how electing a democrat congress is the right thing.

Politics is war by other means. In a war you don't surrender to the enemy in the hopes that you can win another war two years from now.

OMG, please put a sock in it and quit polluting this thread with nonsense that adds nothing to the debate. You're coming off very creepy.

"So spare me the "TAKE OUT RINOS IN THE PRIMARIES!" BS. Whenever conservatives tried to do that, we get dumped on by the party bosses"

Er, screw the party bosses. They play their role, we do ours. Grassroots wins every time it wakes up and actually *does* something.

See, the conservative WON in the AZ-08 race... now the trick is to get Randy Graf *elected* or its a pyhrric victory. Right?

SO, you all can wring your hands ... or you can actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Here's what you can do. Anyone in the country can help make last-minute GOTV calls, contact their campaign and sign up.

Republican candidate for Congress (AZ-08) Randy Graf is a rock-solid conservative who will have a zero tolerance policy for illegal immigration. Randy Graf needs our volunteer support, help and money. Call 520-887-2984 to volunteer for Randy Graf.

Randy Graf's webpage: www.votegraf.com If you are able, please donate money to Randy Graf. His volunteer coordinator is Alice (Ally) Trimble and her email is alice@votegraf.com

The number one race for conservatives in the USA in 2006 is the Randy Graf campaign for Congress in the 8th Congressional District of Arizona. If you are as sick of our elected leaders - many of the Republicans - not enforcing our immigration laws and not protecting and securing our borders, then you MUST support, help or give money to Randy Graf for Congress.
Conservatives all over the nation are organizing to help Randy Graf. Graf is currently down about 8 points and with some elbow grease we can win in a district that Bush won in 2004 with 54-46% of the vote. This is absolutely a critical election and it is the number one race for conservatives in the USA in 2006 and we need your help!

I'm not sure what's behind the dissatisfaction. Probably some pollster has the data. But I'm guessing illegal immigrants are in the top ten...

If you don't know who Bagala is (or James Carvile, for that matter) then you're either too young to remeber him in the clinton years and the defeat of Netanyahu in Israel, you're pretending to not know who he is and what he is, or you're a democrat/DUer/leftist playing games at FR. Do a google search if you really don't know the leftist liberal scum.

"We may be teetering on the precipice, but we're taking our state back, no matter how long it takes. Contrary to this author, we are not going to sit home in a useless fit of pique. We are sick to death of being the red-headed stepchild at the mercy of Philthadelphia and its plantation corruption. We're outraged at having over a third of our state budget going to welfare entitlements, with much more on the horizon, under the Rendell regime."

Amen! preach it baby, preach it!

On the contrary. We can survive the outright enemies of the republic because they are seen and we can fight them.

However, we cannot survive the slow drift to the left by the GOP. We must have a party that is a true opponent of the socialist/dems and right now that is not what we have. We have a faint echo when we need a clear choice.

I am not saying that you shouldn't vote for your pubbie reps who have been faithful servants and have obeyed thier oaths. But there are cowards and sneaks and liars who support those things that we stand as voters stand strongly againt. Those are the ones who do not deserve reelection.

Reelecting bums only rewards them and encourages them to be a bigger bum in the next term.

I think we can hold the Senate without him. Lieberman has voted against tax cuts and the American Conservative Union has twice given him a score of ZERO. Ignore the stench sometimes, sure, but this is too much. He's not getting my money.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

I agree totally about the money. Its the vote that's important. The goal shouldn't be to hold the senate, that's just the first objective. The goal should be to get as many pro WOT votes as possible. Lamont, the Soros/Koz straw man, is a much worse alternative than Joe Lieberman. We have to think six years down the road here. If Lamont gets in we lose a strong supporter of Israel. As this war unfolds we will need guys like Lieberman to swing right. Lamont will side with the Palestinians, the anti-war pacifist crowd and appeasement. Who would you rather have in the senate after Iran nukes Israel, Lamont or Lieberman?

Tell that to those who voted for Toomey to get rid of Specter in PA.

And Toomey currently supports those candidate you are trying to sabotage in his name... stop and think for a minute."

N otime to stop and think ... too busy being troll for a Democrat Senate majority ... Sheesh!!!

BTW, is it possible for out-of-staters to help make GOTV calls for Santorum???

If any of you Freepers give a hoot about saving a real conservative from defeat, you'd sign up for making some GOTV calls for Santorum:

you correctly nailed Conservative Goddess as a troll.
She's not responded to the heaping pile of counterarguments on this thread.

Maybe her schtick worked... I was going to make 100 GOTV calls this afternoon in my precinct for early voting, now it was wasted on this thread ... oh well.

From his show on TV, I'd thought Pat has joined the DUmocrats."

Anytime a conservative becomes the favorite token 'conservative commentator' for the liberal talking head shows, be vrey suspicious.

The Liberals like the conservatives to be cranky, reactionary, ineffectual and divisive. That way the Liberals are always on the side of 'progress'... Pat fits their bill as a foil wonderfully.

"In Ohio, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and other states more conservative candidates were on the ballot in Republican senatorial primaries and they all lost.

The R voters of those states had every chance to elect a good conservative and they chose the RINO's Chaffee, Spector and DeWine instead."

Correct, and let's point out that while Republicans are 'loyal' and these were incumbents who are hard to dislodge, there *were* some incumbent RINOs who lost primaries.
Not just the 16 state-level GOP officeholders in PA, but this case:
Tim Walberg conservative beats RINO JOE SCHWARZ (MI-07) TO WIN GOP PRIMARY

In many cases, the pubbies that you support today are less patriotic and less supportive of our rights than the dems of 40 years ago.

If HHH or JFK were running today, they'd be the 'conservative' candidate.

Howlin, you defend mediocrity. You defend the GOP. I have never seen your defend any conservative or any conservative value.

there is historical precedent.

Then please cite it. Also please note that Rs won the House in 94 but *didn't* win the WH in 96 which you must admit is a historcial precedent *against* your position.

You are clear what I'm saying here, right? That two years of gays-in-the-military, nationalized-healthcare moonbattery turned the Congress over to a conservative agenda. You don't really deny that do you?
