Deliver a Spanking
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review ^ | October 22, 2006 | Colin McNickle

Posted on 10/22/2006 8:49:20 AM PDT by Conservative Goddess

I am your typical Republican "supervoter." .... But I'm seriously considering ending that streak this Nov. 7. ...

I'm also a contrarian -- a conservative with libertarian leanings. Combine all these characteristics, then mix in the aggregate Republican record, allow the ire it has created to rise and bake it for a few years and here's what comes out of the oven:

A party base that's mad as hell and no longer willing to rationalize GOP failures. It's a base whose crust grows darker and thicker -- i.e., angrier -- when prominent conservatives and Republicans -- politicians, pundits, radio talk-show hosts and think tankers sensing impending electoral doom -- pop out of their pumpkins and upbraid the watered-on for complaining about being wet.

....

...Pay no attention to the recidivists behind the curtain who, once every two years or four or six, make grand promises of fealty to conservative and party principles only to repeatedly fail to deliver. ... What's the definition of insanity again? In this case it's constantly returning Republicans to power and having the audacity to expect different results. And what could be more stupid than that?

....

Look, folks, it's time to take a stand. Returning this current crew of Republicans to power will only embolden them to spend more time, not less, off the conservative reservation. This is no time to dance the Rationalization Rumba. It is time for the GOP base to deliver a very big SMACK. It's the only way to start the process of true Republican/conservative reclamation.

Fellow Republicans and conservatives, do what you must on Nov. 7. But I, for one, refuse to yet again enter my polling place, vote for the usual GOP suspects...

It's time for the long-spanked to do some spanking.

Your account will be that you were unhappy with the team you made by your inaction, and were unwilling do do anything to improve it.

Send me a brochure when your Unicorns and Rainbows Party is up and running.

And Toomey currently supports those candidate you are trying to sabotage in his name... stop and think for a minute.

It's called politics. Do I like it? No. But explain to me why his own PAC won't endorse him?

"send people like McCain, etc long petitions"

Huh? I can agree with everythihg you said up to here...

Do you honestly believe McVain would give a rats rear end if we sent him a mountain of petitions? Would you seriously trust him for anything? A man who has repeatedly stabbed conservatives in the back, has stabbed the president on the war in the back, has pushed for al queda bill of rights (no torture?)????

Dude, better check the coffee you're drinkin'. I for one do not trust McVain no farther than I can throw him.

I don't trust LIEberman at all, as far as I'm concerned, voting for him is not a good idea, and sending money his way is a really bad idea. It's a waste of money. Once he sides with the dems it will be too much of an embarrassment. Besides, I think we can hold the Senate without him. Lieberman has voted against tax cuts and the American Conservative Union has twice given him a score of ZERO. Ignore the stench sometimes, sure, but this is too much. He's not getting my money.

We've all seen what happened on the PA board. Don't drag that crap onto this thread

I don't believe it was me that brought it up.

What a bunch of defeatist, masochistic, self-destructive TRIPE.

Where is the "barf alert" for this person bound and determined to make Pelosi the Speaker and Ted Kennedy and Leahey the ones to pass judgement on our next Supreme Court nominee?

Well, then, would you prefer we just don't vote them?

I'd prefer they think for themselves and do what's best for the conservative cause. So, for example, I will vote for McGavick because he's far preferable to Cantwell. But in CT, I'd vote for Lieberman over Schlesinger. In RI, I'd probably not vote at all for Senate. OTOH, if I thought the Rs were going to lose the Senate unless Chaffee were re-elected, I'd probably vote for that scumbag.

But, typically, you're missing the point. It's entirely reasonable, based on a historical comparison to 92/94 to conclude that losing the House this year could lead to greater gains in '08. I for one don't think the Ds could help themselves, the moonbats have too great an influence.

I don't trust McPain and hate him with a passion. There aren't enough four-letter Anglo-Saxonisms to adequately describe him.

HOWEVER, it will only take some time, effort and stamps and remember - he THINKS he's going to be President someday. It won't hurt and can only help.

But there are more likely targets out there like Graham. I think people like him CAN be intimidated. He comes from a VERY conservative state.

"Well, too late for me to "send the GOP a message". I already voted for them, straight GOP ticket. I've got a governor's race here in Ohio that's TOO DARNED IMPORTANT to me to vote for retreat-and-defeat DemocRATS."

You'll have to do more than just vote for Blackwell and DeWine ... they need all the help they can get..

"Nobody wants to change it. Why do we have to keep getting a bad product given to us then we are expected to buy it? If we keep buying it they will never improve it."

Whats this "they" will never improve it?

How about YOU improve it by getting active before the primaries?

Don't say it don't work, it does.

The problem is that you wont work hard enough to make change.

Did you really not think I know you're here to try to discourage people from doing exactly what I said, keeping this country on the correct path and undoing 40 years of liberalism?

Please don't slander me like that. I'm not here to divide the base...I'm here to hold our candidates accountable to represent me and all the values that you, I, and FreeRepublic stand for, using what feeble tools I have at my disposal.

I would be most distressed to see a Democrat victory this fall. I would be only slightly less distressed to see a victory by Republicans who act like Democrats.

Its true.

We have to shake their cages to wake them up. We have to be visible, obnoxious and persistent - take a leaf from the Bolsheviks in the Democrat Party.

Only when Conservatives start becoming VERY active in primary elections and campaigns will the RINOs change their horns.

But you fix that during primary season.... In 1992 people thought they could teach the GOP a lesson by voting for Perot and gave us eight years (or more) of the damn dirty Clintons.

In all honesty, conservatives did support Pat Buchanan in the 1992 GOP primaries and was ridiculed for it by the establishment.

I remember the hatred from the GOP on Buchanan back then, how they criticized him so they could get their name in the news. And Buchanan's words back in 1992 are coming to fruitation today (re: immigration, multiculturalism, etc).

We tried to take the RINO out in the primary, right?

So if Bush I lost, he lost because he broke his no new taxes pledge and tried to be "The Education President" and "The Environmental President." Not to mention signing the ridiculous ADA. Bush I was a RINO.

Still, I voted for Bush I and urged others to do so too, since he was the nominee. And I believe that Republicans should be supported today.

But hear me out on this. Stop blaming conservative voters because the Republicans aren't doing their jobs. Everytime conservatives try to support more conservative Republicans in the primaries, we get hamstrung by the NRCC or NRSC or other RNC affiliate that sticks its nose into local races and support the RINO.

So spare me the "TAKE OUT RINOS IN THE PRIMARIES!" BS. Whenever conservatives tried to do that, we get dumped on by the party bosses. But we're supposed to march lockstep and support RINOs in the general. I will, but if some conservatives stay home I really can't blame them.

You will embolden Iraq, Iran, North Korea, China, and leave the ultimate court in the hands of the wishy washy. and it only starts there.

Repeat line 1.
