Brian Williams of NBC news just made mention of the AP investigation regarding Senator Reid as he reported on the House page scandal. Many wondered if the mainstream media would mention it at all.
NV: (SEN HARRY ) Reid facing possible violation ~ Transfer of LV land in '01 never disclosed
Will link back to this...
talk of Harry Reid stepping down has nothing to do with his land deals and it' s not new.
"August 03, 2006
"...Some high level Democratic Party political insiders have shared with TWN details of a potential shift in vectors for several of the major political stars in that party.
First of all, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, whom most give high marks for the manner in which he has stewarded the Dems in the Senate despite the absence of a clear Democratic Party chief, has sent private signals to Senator Hillary Clinton and other stalwarts of the party that he "would like to" step down from his post in early 2009. Reid has not stated definitively that he will -- but he apparently prefers "whipping" the Party from behind and the side rather than serving as commander-in-chief on the Senate floor.
What Reid is offering Senator Hillary Clinton is his total, robust support to succeed him as Senate Majority Leader if she elects not to pursue the Democratic nomination for President."...

Biden said that last January. I wouldn't be surprised if Biden leaked the story.
Thank goodness I was sitting down when I read this! And smarmy Brian Williams, at that!
I saw that when it happened. :-)
LLS
And for the dull of mind, I'm not excusing Foley.
The same point can be made, you can't defeat your political opponent by being nice.
That would be an awesome film.
I'm stunned.

I noted some conservative blogs can't play it now and gave this link.
Well, they probably figured they had to mention the 'foibles' of the other side to portray some form of fairness. I guess...
I sent 3-mails to Brit, Sean and Rush too....I am glad they are finally covering it, at least for now.
.....When will Reid do the right thing and resign his seat??? ......
Never. He is arrogant to the extreme and like Choucescu of Romania will have to be shot to be deposed.
He'll not quit the senate...unfortunately...it'll be resigning as minority leader...look at jefferson...he's still in congress....Republicans quit congress and the whole bit...rats don't.
.....I didn't catch the full details.....
Damn.
Ha!.....my theory is that the coverage depends on the beast...maybe ol Harry doesn't want to step down...all of a sudden this story appears....hmmmmmmmm
I lied.
That line reminds me of Earl Long, brother of Huey Long, both governors of Louisiana.
An aide comes in to Earls office and tells him that there is an irate supporter who gave a lot of money in Earl's election campaign for the promise of a position on the levee board. He demands to see the governor elect, who has just appointed someone else to the position.
Earl Long tells the aide to just go out there and tell him the truth.
"I lied."
Er, ah, Teddy nevah quit.
That's good. Thank you. Fortunately, Rush spent a lot of time today on Reid. I hope more FReepers make similar recommendations to the media, and guys like Rush.
