Thanks for the update. I've been around a lot of hospitals and rehab centers. I have found that as a whole they are very noisy. It might be a good idea to get him a CD player with ear phones and quiet type CDs of waterfalls, ect. to drown out or muffle someone in the hall dropping a tray or just plain yelling through the intercom.
My prayers continue.

...we read him the many. many cards he'd received while away at the hospital. He held them close to his chest. : ) We put them up where he can see them from his bed so he'll always know he very loved. Awwwww......
The hospital and rehab staff are wonderful in the most part and others will be asked to move along in short order.
Heh heh. I understand this very well.
Sending an angel your way, Brian . . .

Tonk, when my son was 13, his bike hit loose gravel and then a stationary car. It sent my son flying 20' in an arc through the air, landing him on his face and shoulder on hard pavement. It also tore a cruciate ligament in one knee when he caved in both doors of the car.
He spent that summer in a cast and wheelchair, and the cop, medics, witnesses, and insurance agent, all familiar with the way he landed on his head, said he should not have made it. He told me later he felt like he was being held in the hands of angels as he "flew" through the air and landed (breaking his collar bone) so that his collar took the brunt. The only thing that happened to his face after his pavement face plant was minor abrasions.
I say all that to say this: I know you are in God's hands as surely as my son was that day.
When I got my boy home from the hospital and he lay on the couch, I sat on the floor next to him, reviewing the events and thanking God from the depths of my heart that He had kept my son alive. And then the most amazing thing happened. It was as if I were seeing a veil with a deeply turquoise-blue-dark "other world" with stars in the heavens on the other side. The veil had been drawn open and I knew I was seeing into eternity. I knew that my son had been pulled back from the very last brink before death and God had given him back to me. Tears ran down my face in silence and wonder as this unfolded before my understanding.
After the cast and wheelchair, he spent months working the strength and usual range of movement back into his leg. He worked hard and it paid off. I watched him struggle and was so proud of every gain he made.
We are here cheering you on, Tonk. Every little gain is a rivulet leading into the larger stream. I pray your mind is filled with the larger stream image.
