Rush reports that a Cessna has been reported as crashing into (at least one) apartment complex in NYC Mannhattan's upper east side - on East 71st Street.

Well, good news is your dad was grieving today, otherwise he might have been subjected to this traumatic event. Bad news, you are going home to a smelly apt and have to spend a ton of money cleaning it up. Hope your dads' apt wasn't one of the ones hit. I feel terrible for those innocent souls minding their own business and suddenly this...but as someone else said, thank goodness this is a rare aviation accident in NYC. When I lived under the take-off path for LaGuardia, I thought about this a lot...because it could have been my windows on the 24th floor that got hit. People need to remember that this is truly rare for the number of planes and helicopters flying everyday.

I have an exact opposite reaction. I would be very surprised if it were terrorism. Accidents happen at a far greater rate than terrorism. Terrorism generally has targets and weapons chose to give the biggest 'impact' such as a highly populated location or a location of vital interest, not a generic every day apartment in a generic every day part of NYC..

I think terrorism highly unlikely - as stated this is hardly a great target.

Possible, or course, even from a single Moslem nut performing on his own.

But doubtful.

Applying Occums razor to this reveals to me that it is far more likely done on purpose than accident.

Nope.

Ask me sometimes about how many ways that human beings have found to fly airplanes into things that you think they would miss.

Given enough time, every pilot will eventually find something to crash into. Most have to land or run out of gas before their turn comes. Odds are, the pilot had an in-flight heart attack, and the rest is history.
