How cool is it that Fox can stream video from their employee's cell phones?
Damn.

Just got off the phone with my dad, who lives in the same building. He's at a bereavement grief on 90th Street, so he's okay.

No, they're not.

524 east 72nd street, Bel Aire Apartment Building. 20 floors up Helicopter the hit. There is a Heliport on East 34 street near the water. It is a very busy spot with helicopters arriving from the airports (JFK, LaGuardia) and other places, all day long.

Anyone...? Does anyone know anything about that helicopter that went down in the water earlier today? Two civilian 'copter crashes in one day seems odd...
To: Yossarian
So is it a helicopter or Cessna? I heard Cessna on the radio. If it was Terrorists then they must not feel confident that they can get a plane from an airport. Hope it was just some accident, or the pilot had a heart attack or a mechanical failure or something. That happenes lot with those small planes, and helicopters too.

Aircraft crashes into New York building
POSTED: 3:02 p.m. EDT, October 11, 2006
NEW YORK (AP) -- Police say an aircraft has crashed into a building on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 72nd Street and York Avenue. It is near Rockefeller Center.
There was no word on casualties.
Video from the scene shows at least three apartments in the high rise fully engulfed in flames.
It's unclear if it was a small plane or a helicopter.

This area very close to major Hospitals. The bldg may be home to many nurses and other staff members.
East River heliport is a few blocks south ... close enough to cause serious noise problems and now (probably) this accident.

Only 1 injury reported so far. 20th floor or so, per WCBS-TV on north face of apartment building, called the Bel Air (524 E 72nd Street).
